Storytelling and Egg Paquing at the Market

Louisiana author Colette Juneau will return to the Lafayette Farmers and Artisans Market Satuday April 12, 2014 at 10:00 to feature her book, SanTaa Kroupee and Paquin' Eggs on the Bayou.

The story explains the French tradition of egg paquing, an Easter game played by generations of Cajun families involving knocking hardboiled eggs to see which egg can survive the longest without cracking.

Anyone can participate in an egg-paquing contest immediately following story time. The game's instructions and history will be explained in French and English; competitors of all ages are asked to bring a hardboiled egg, dyed or decorated in any fashion. Additional hardboiled eggs will available if needed. The egg-paquing champion will receive a prize basket.

Local musicians Lisa and Harry Trahan will lead this week's Cajun Jam, which takes place at the Market each week, 9-11 a.m.
