Occasional rain and a few thunderstorms will cross the area this afternoon, but more coverage of rain is expected later tonight.
This morning, a warm front lifting out of the Gulf of Mexico provided the area with scattered rains. This afternoon, more storms could fire up with daytime heating. Temperatures are expected to rise into the upper 70s today.
Later tonight, a cold front will approach the area bringing the chance for a few strong or severe thunderstorms. The primary threat to the storms tonight will be hail or high winds. The front should slide through the region by Tuesday morning. Expect a few more rains early in the day, then clearing and a bit cooler for Wednesday.
