Secretary of State Tom Schedler and The Old State Capitol Associates are proud to present "A Meandering Tale, Stories and Facts about the Mississippi River." The presentation will be held at Louisiana's Old State Capitol, 100 North Boulevard, August 27, 2014, from 5:30 p.m. to 7:30 p.m.
The Speaker will be Captain Z. David DeLoach, DeLoach Marine Services, L.L.C. Captain DeLoach has spent his entire life on the Mississippi River. He started out as a deck hand, and worked his way up to the owner of his company, and a consultant.
Last year our Speaker Series presented General Russel L. Honore'; Louisiana-A French Connection; and The Mighty Mississippi-Louisiana's Anchor. After these talks, the public wanted more on the Mississippi River, so Captain DeLoach was contacted. His talk will include what was happening on the Mississippi River during the time that the Old State Capitol was built, stories about the commerce on the river, and statistical information, including some humorous highlights.
From 5:30 p.m. to 6:00 p.m., a social will be held. There will be no charge for Associate Members, and Non-members -- $10.00. Tickets will be sold at the door.
