In the first part of December, 2012, St. Landry Parish Sheriff's Office detectives received information that several stolen firearms from St. Landry Parish burglaries may be in the Maringouin area; Iberville Parish. St. Landry investigators immediately began an open investigation with Iberville Sheriff's Office detectives. During the investigation, eleven (11) firearms and two (2) compound hunting bows were recovered. Two (2) of the guns and one (1) of the hunting bows were determined to have been stolen from a St. Landry Parish burglary. All other firearms were determined to have been stolen from Iberville Parish, East and West Felicia Parishes, Livingston Parish, and Pike County, Mississippi.
Sheriff Bobby J. Guidroz said, "More firearms are expected to be located during this ongoing investigation and we are confident there will be multiple arrests made from this recovery."
"Successful law enforcement requires joint efforts between surrounding agencies and I believe this recovery is a good example of that," Guidroz added.
