The hunting dog stolen from a hotel on Evangeline Thruway has been found dead. "Boz" was Jaime and Davis Arthur's companion for 10 years until someone stole the black labrador in the middle of the night on New Year's Eve. A Lafayette Police Dept. detective told the Arthurs that Boz was badly injured in a dog fight on Martin Street. Witnesses called animal control, who picked up Boz and later euthanized him due to his injuries. Arthur says Boz's remains were cremated.

The Arthur's had been searching for Boz since he was taken from a locked, mounted dog box on their truck. Whoever stole Boz broke a lock to get to him. "Shocked, crushed that somebody would have the gall to come over here and take my dog that i've raised since he was a puppy," Davis Arthur told KATC's Elizabeth Hill. The father and son stopped at the hotel on their way home to Georgia from a hunting trip.

Surveillance video from a nearby business shows a man stealing clothes from the Arthur's vehicle. The Arthurs describe the man in the video as white, in his mid-thirties, about 6'2", slim build and a dark mustache. The truck is described as a pewter gold colored Chevy Silverado or GMC Sierra with Louisiana plates.
