Staying cool, may not have been easy this Labor Day, but one Lafayette business was happy for the heat. One snow cone at a time, is how Dwayne Guidry is growing his business. He's served thousands of snow cones since he bought the Kona Ice franchise in Lafayette almost a year ago.
"Being out here is really great, it's not really working. It's like vacation to me," Kona Ice franchise owner Dwayne Guidry said.
Adults and little ones lined up in Girard Park on Labor Day for an icy treat. Guidry says he's made up to 1400 dollars in a day, and today he hopes to sell 600 snow cones. He'll be here, he says until the sun goes down.
"Lafayette, I've been here my whole life, I always thought that if I could find a niche, something Lafayette didn't have. And when I saw the truck, I said Lafayette doesn't have a Kona truck. That's the reason why I went into the business with it," Guidry said.
