Statement from Edwards' Family

"My father, Edwin Edwards, has been released from federal prison after 8 years 2 months and 21 days. He was released at 5 o'clock this morning. He arrived at Ecumenical House at approximately 8:30a.m. After doing all required paperwork and getting all instructions he was released to home confinement for a period of 6 months. During is home confinement he will have no contact with the press. After home confinement he will be on 3 years probation and subject to the rules and regulations of the federal probation office. He will certainly follow all rules.
Dad is well and very much looking forward to starting a new chapter in his life. This is a very happy yet emotional day for my family. Many thanks to everyone who has offered continuing support and well wishes during his incarceration.
I will continue to release all information as it becomes available."
