State Superintendent White to Visit Calcasieu Parish and Reward Schools

State Superintendent of Education John White will visit Calcasieu Parish to present a check supporting dedication and increased student achievement. Thursday, February 7, Calcasieu Parish School Superintendent Wayne Savoy will receive $169,000 and earn the Top Gains School designation for the 2011-2012 school year. Superintendent Savoy will recognize 20 schools in the district, rewarding each school $8,453 to be used for educational purposes.
For the 2011-2012 school year, 440 schools in the state earned the Top Gains School designation. Top Gains Schools improved their School Performance Score by or beyond a pre-determined growth target, from 2 to 10 points.
