On Monday, Aug. 4th, Louisiana House Speaker Chuck Kleckley will accompany State Police Superintendent Col. Mike Edmonson and a delegation from the Louisiana State Police on a trip to south Texas at its border with Mexico for a security briefing and tour by the Texas Department of Public Safety.
This will be Edmonson's second trip to the McAllen, Texas area to meet with law enforcement partners from Texas and discuss border security issues that affect the citizens of Louisiana.
On this trip, Edmonson will be accompanied by Kleckley, State Police senior representatives from troop operations, criminal patrol operations, SWAT/aviation operations.
The visit will include a security briefing by intelligence officials followed by an air and marine tour of the border.
"Whether it is illegal drugs, illegal weapons or undocumented immigrants, Louisiana is affected daily by security issues at the Mexico border," said Edmonson. "We continue to enjoy a strong partnership with our counterparts at Texas DPS who play a critical role in providing us intelligence and situational awareness with regards to border security issues."
