State police identify pedestrian killed Friday

HAMMOND, La. (AP) - State police have identified a pedestrian who was hit and killed on Interstate 55 in Hammond Friday night.
Troopers say 50-year-old Joan Walters of Ponchatoula stepped directly in the path of a car driven by 20-year-old Brandon Carral of Amite around 9 p.m.
Impairment for the pedestrian is unknown at this time pending toxicology results at the coroner's office.
Troopers are continuing their investigation into the crash.
