State Police: Breaux Bridge Police Officers Involved in Shooting

UPDATE: A family member has confirmed that 16-year-old Daraneisha Harris was the person shot by Breaux Bridge Police. As of Sunday night, officials have not confirmed her condition.

State Police confirmed a shooting in Breaux Bridge around 8:00pm Sunday night involved two Breaux Bridge Police Officers. Trooper Stephen Hammons said Breaux Bridge Police officers responded to a call at the intersections of Wade and Landry, when they arrived a female subject hit them head on with her car, with the officers still inside their vehicle.

After striking the officer's vehicle, the driver put her car in reverse, backed into a driveway and hit at least one person standing in the driveway. Hammons said that's when the two Breaux Bridge Police officers got out of their vehicle and at least one officer opened fire on the driver of the vehicle, striking her. The conditions of the driver and person hit by her vehicle are unknown at this time.

State Police are investigating the incident along with Breaux Bridge Police.
