State Police and St. Martin Parish Deputies Investigating a Shooting

State Police and the St. Martin Parish Sheriff's Office are investigating a shooting involving a St. Martin Parish Deputy.

At about 3:30 p.m. Wednesday afternoon, Deputies responded to a 911 call at 1129A Saltmine Road in Breaux Bridge. Deputies say when the first deputy arrived on scene, he encountered 32-year-old Laquantin Green of Opelousas, who was armed with a handgun.

The Deputy fired his handgun, striking Green in the upper torso. Green was transported to a local hospital where he remains in stable condition.

Detectives are continuing their investigation. Charges are pending the results of their investigation.
