A state-of-the-art facility for Alzheimers patients and their families has broken ground in Lafayette, and families may start reserving rooms now for loved ones.
Cedar Crest is expected to be Acadiana's first and only community center solely dedicated to caring for seniors with Alzheimers and providing support for their families, said a release from the facility's founders.
The idea is the brainchild of brothers Mo and Nicol Hannie, who watched their beloved father pass away from the disease.
"Our goal is to promote and provide specialized, quality, compassionate care to seniors with the disease to achieve the most independence and quality of life possible," said Mo Hannie.
"We look forward to Cedar Crest being part of the fabric of our community for decades to come and helping families find a sense of peace in battling a terrible disease," said Nicol Hannie.
Cedar Crest is expected to open in Fall 2014. For more information, visit cedarcrestliving.com.
