State Civil Service Commission announces vacancy for Fire and Police State Examiner

The Louisiana State Civil Service Commission will soon choose a new leader of the Office of the State Examiner, Municipal Fire and Police Civil Service. Article X of the Louisiana Constitution charges the State Civil Service Commission with selecting the Fire and Police State Examiner.

The Fire and Police State Examiner serves as the director of the Municipal Fire and Police Civil Service. The State Examiner administers a civil service system for fire and police personnel in cities throughout Louisiana.

The current State Examiner, Melinda Livingston, will be retiring February 3, 2013. Livingston has worked for the Office of the State Examiner for the past 35 years.

Candidates must have a baccalaureate degree plus seven years of professional level human resource experience, including three at the advanced level, and be a qualified Louisiana voter and resident.
