OAK RIDGE, La. (AP) - Artisans and craftsmen will be making leather items, painting in watercolors and working wood during Community Day at Starr Homeplace in Oak Ridge. There is farm equipment scattered throughout the property, an old barn and a working blacksmith shop.

The Times reports that owner Joe Rolfe is looking for people who would like to demonstrate their skills, particularly quilters to work with a frame.

He holds Community Days the second Saturday of every month from April through October, except for August. Admission is $5, free for children to age 11.

His 150-acre holding includes 19 buildings, including a log cabin built in 1835 and a schoolhouse built about 1870 and later converted to a house. Several buildings are modern, but most are from the first half of the 1900s.
