Standoff in Iberia Parish

UPDATE: The suspect in the New Iberia standoff has been shot and killed by police.
Deputies tell us they were called out to the 2300 block of Divine Street in New Iberia after a fight erupted. A man then barricaded himself inside a mobile home and threatened to shoot police if they came any closer. The suspect then fired several rounds and deputies fired back. Shortly after, Acadian Ambulance as well as a forensics unit did show up. No officers were shot in this incident.

The Iberia Parish Sheriff's Office is on the scene of a standoff in the 2300 block of Divine Road. At least one person is armed inside the residence at this time, and the sheriff's department is treating this as a possible hostage situation.
