The U.S. Postal Service's National Association of Letter Carriers (NALC) will hold their nationwide annual food drive for local food pantries on Saturday, May 11, 2013.
This year, the Rotary Club of Opelousas Sunrise is partnering with NALC members to make this 2013 food drive a success. NALC workers will pick-up non-perishable food items left by mailboxes and return the food to the Opelousas Post Office, where Rotary Club members, St. Landry-Evangeline United Way and volunteers will unload the food and deliver it to the ICON Food Bank. Help feed families and reduce hunger in St. Landry Parish by putting non-perishable food items in a bag by your mailbox on Saturday, May 11. Any non-perishable food items (but not home canned items) in the original packaging are welcome. In addition to canned goods, high protein and fiber items like dried beans, rice, canned meat and peanut butter are especially needed. Please promote this effort where you work, at your church, in social and service clubs, and let's do what we can to stamp out hunger in St. Landry Parish.
