COVINGTON, La. (AP) - St. Tammany Parish President Kevin Davis has lifted the emergency order regarding the fish kill in the Pearl River basin.
Davis said Monday that state environmental regulators have a monitoring plan that appears "adequate to safeguard the needs of our citizens."
Davis says the plan includes strict monitoring of the site by the state Department of Environmental Quality and that information will be shared with local jurisdictions.
Paper producer Temple-Inland has taken responsibility for a huge fish kill earlier this month on the Pearl River, blaming a discharge from the mill.
