According to Sheriff Mark A. Hebert during the last 24 hours the Sheriff's Office responded to 51 complaints and reports the following arrests:
Karen H. Gier 43 yoa of 219 Southeast Blvd., Bayou Vista was arrested on 3-20-2012 at 8:50 am on a warrant for Issuing Worthless Checks. Suspect was located at her residence, placed under arrest and issued a summons to appear in court on 6-26-2012.
Therold L. James 27 yoa of 3B's Lane Apartment # 11, Bayou Vista was arrested on 3-20-2012 at 9:57 am for three counts of Battery on a Police Officer, Battery of a Correctional Facility Employee, four counts of Resisting an Officer with Force, Possession of MDMA with Intent to Distribute, Possession of Marijuana and Parole Violation. Deputy was called to 3B's Apartment in reference to removing a subject. Upon Deputy's arrival complainant advised that she wanted suspect to leave the residence. During investigation a pat down of suspect was conducted when suspect began resisting Deputies and committed batteries upon Deputies. Suspect was taken into custody and a search of his person was conducted with Deputy locating a bag of marijuana and two pills. After investigation suspect was booked into the parish jail with no bond at this time.
Nick P. Daigle 17 yoa of 106 Landry St., Patterson was arrested on 3-20-2012 at 10:25 am for Theft. Deputy was called to PattersonHigh School in reference to a theft of a Cell Phone. Upon Deputy's arrival it was learned from School Official that he was advised by complainant that his cell phone was taken from his locker, a review of surveillance video observed above suspect entering the locker and taking the phone. Suspect was interviewed and after investigation was placed under arrest and booked into the parish jail with a $1000.00 bond and was later released.
On 3-20-2012 at 3:36 pm two Male Juvenile 13 yoa were arrested for Disturbing the Peace by Fighting. Deputy was called to Berwick Jr. High in reference to two students on video fighting on face book. Upon Deputy's arrival school official advised that she had received information that a video of two students was posted on face book. Contact was made with the suspects and their parents to come into the Morgan City Sheriff's office for an investigation of incident. After investigation both juveniles were placed under arrest, processed and released to guardians pending juvenile court proceedings.
Kerdern Martin 25 yoa of 149 Pickett St., Charenton was arrested on 3-20-2012 at 9:49 pm Traffic Laws Apply to Persons Riding Bicycles and Possession of Marijuana. Deputy was patrolling the Charenton area, when they conducted a traffic stop on suspect riding his bike into the oncoming lane of traffic. Upon Deputy approaching suspect he was observed throwing a plastic bag to the ground. Deputy retrieved item a bag of marijuana. After investigation suspect was placed under arrest and issued a summons to appear in court on 6-26-2012.
