St. Mary Parish Sheriff's Office Daily Arrest Report

According to St. Mary Parish Sheriff Mark Hebert, during the last 72 hour reporting period the Sheriff's Office responded to 122 complaints and reports the following arrests:

Telvin Shepherd, 20, 409 Petite Road, Lafayette, LA was arrested on November 15, 2013 at 7:10 pm for theft of goods. A deputy responded to a complaint of shoplifting at a store in Bayou Vista. Upon arrival, the deputy learned from store personnel that Shepherd was seen taking items from the store without paying for the goods. Shepherd was transported to the parish jail for booking and incarceration. Bond is set at $1,000.

Arturo Chavana, 25, 2530 Keith Street, Morgan City, LA was arrested on November 16, 2013 at 4:10 am for tail lights required, no driver's license, and unlawful possession of fraudulent documents. A deputy patrolling the Amelia area conducted a traffic stop on a vehicle with a burnt out tail light. The deputy made contact with the driver, who was identified as Chavana. Chavana stated to the deputy that he did not have any type of identification on him. During the course of the investigation, the deputy received consent to search his person and located a fraudulent ID made to look like a Texas driver's license. Chavana was transported to the parish jail for booking and incarceration. No bond is set.

Laquita Ross, 35, 135 Boudreaux Street, Thibodaux, LA was arrested on November 16, 2013 at 1:56 am on two warrants from Lafourche Parish for contempt of court and a warrant from Thibodaux Police for contempt of court. A deputy patrolling the Amelia area made contact with a subject walking on Highway 182. The deputy identified the subject as Ross and learned of the warrants for her arrest. Ross was transported to the parish jail for booking and incarceration. No bond is set.

Maynor B. Perez, 24, 3466 Lake Palourde Road, Amelia, LA was arrested on November 16, 2013 at 1:17 pm for aggravated battery domestic abuse. A deputy investigating a report of domestic abuse discovered that Perez had struck a female victim with a belt. Through further investigation, the deputy learned that Perez had used other items to strike the female on multiple occasions. Perez was transported to the parish jail for booking and incarceration. No bond is set.

Dawn Height, 44, 161 Carriage Cove Lane, Franklin, LA was arrested on November 16, 2013 at 5:41 pm for driving while intoxicated and improper backing. A deputy responded to a complaint that vehicle backed into a ditch on Highway 182 and Kemper Road. The deputy made contact with the driver, identified as Height. The deputy observed Height swaying back and forth. While speaking with Height, the deputy learned that she had taken prescription medication prior to driving a motor vehicle. Height performed poorly on the field sobriety test. She later refused a chemical test. Height was transported to the parish jail for booking and incarceration. No bond is set.

James J. Bailey, Jr., 19, 110 Railroad Avenue, Patterson, LA was arrested on November 16, 2013 at 7:45 pm for disturbing the peace. A deputy responded to a report of a disturbance at a residence on Highway 182 in Patterson. During the course of the investigation, the deputy learned that Bailey had brandished a firearm in the presence of a female and children who were inside the home. He was released on a $250 bond.

Juvenile male, 16, Baldwin, LA was arrested on November 16, 2013 at 11:53 pm for resisting an officer and disturbing the peace by fighting. A deputy responded to a noise complaint at a residence on Singleton Street. Upon arrival, a resident requested that the deputy stand by while a group of people left the area following a party. While the crowd was dispersing, a fight broke out. During the altercation, the juvenile grabbed a male subject by the hair. The juvenile was released to a guardian pending juvenile court proceedings.

Reginald T. Martin, 38, 149 Pickett Street, Charenton, LA was arrested on November 17, 2013 at 1:13 pm on warrants for felony illegal possession of stolen things, failure to appear on charge of simple burglary, and failure to appear on the charge of 2 counts of criminal neglect of family. Martin was transported to the parish jail from Baldwin Police Department on the warrants. No bond is set.

Kevin Billiot, 41, 127 Locust Street, Franklin, LA was arrested on November 17, 2013 at 10:48 pm for domestic abuse battery, simple battery, and criminal trespass. A deputy responded to a report of a domestic battery. During the course of the investigation, the deputy learned that Billiot and another male subject were involved in an argument when Billiot began to choke the victim. Billiot was transported to the parish jail for booking and incarceration. No bond is set.Jose Lisandro Barajas-Birrueta, 21, 171 Foxglove Street, Patterson, LA was arrested on November 18, 2013 at 4:16 am on the following charges:

Enticing persons into prostitution, 3 counts
Contributing to the delinquency of a juvenile
Illegal use of a weapon
Computer aided solicitation of a minor

Deputies responding to a complaint of an armed robbery made contact with Barajas-Birrueta. During the course of the investigation, Barajas-Birrueta showed deputies text messages discussing the exchange of money for sexual acts. Deputies also learned that he and another male subject discharged a firearm on Highway 182 in the Patterson area and that Barajas-Birrueta gave a 16 year old female a pack of cigarettes. Barajas-Birrueta was transported to the parish jail for booking and incarceration. No bond is set. This investigation is ongoing.
