According to St. Mary Parish Sheriff Mark Hebert, during the last 24 hour reporting period the Sheriff's Office responded to 54 complaints and reports the following arrests:
Anthony Javonte Harris, 17, 219 West Side Trailer Park Amelia, LA was arrested on May 28, 2013 at 7:44 pm for 3 counts of resisting an officer by flight and criminal trespass. Detectives of the St. Mary Parish Sheriff's Office Narcotics Division were patrolling the Morgan City area when they observed two male subjects flee the area on foot. Detectives canvassed the area and apprehended one of the subjects, identified as Harris, on Mount Street. While speaking with Harris, detectives were contacted by Morgan City Police who received a complaint of two male subjects who were trespassing. Harris ran through several yards while attempting to flee from detectives. He was transported to the parish jail for booking and incarceration. His bond is set at $3,500.
Evelia Pereira, 37, 101 Martin Lane Morgan City, LA was arrested on May 28, 2013 at 11:13 pm for no headlights, operating a vehicle without insurance, and operating a vehicle without lawful presence in the United States. A deputy observed a vehicle that had no headlights on and conducted a traffic stop on Lake Palourde Road in Amelia. The deputy made contact with the driver, identified as Pereira. Pereira stated via translator that she had no driver's license or insurance. Through further investigation, the deputy learned that Pereira was operating the vehicle without lawful presence in the United States. She was transported to the parish jail for booking and incarceration. No bond is set.
