According to St. Mary Parish Sheriff Mark Hebert, during the last 24 hour reporting period the Sheriff's Office responded to 38 complaints and reports the following arrests:
Jerell A. Jones, 21, 628 Red Cypress Road Patterson, LA was arrested on May 16, 2013 at 5:49 pm for simple battery and on a warrant for failure to appear on the charge of possession of marijuana. Deputies responded to a report of a fight in a parking lot off Highway 90 in Bayou Vista. Upon arrival, deputies learned from the complainant and other witnesses that Jones struck a 22 year old female subject on the head before leaving in a vehicle. The victim sustained a minor injury from the encounter. Witnesses were able to provide a description of the vehicle including the license plate number. Using the description, narcotics detectives who were on patrol in the Patterson area located the vehicle on Martin Luther King Boulevard. Jones, a passenger, was questioned about the incident and subsequently arrested. He was transported to the parish jail for booking and incarceration. His bond is set at $2,100. The investigation of this complaint led to a second investigation involving SMPSO narcotics detectives.
