According to St. Mary Parish Sheriff Mark Hebert, during the last 24 hour reporting period the Sheriff's Office responded to 61 complaints and reports the following arrests:
Juvenile male, 13, Jeanerette, LA was arrested on April 16, 2013 at 11:52 am for simple burglary, simple criminal damage to property, criminal trespass, and runaway juvenile. A detective responded to a complaint of damaged property and a missing forklift at a business located on Hwy. 87 in Jeanerette. About two hours later the St. Mary Parish Sheriff's Office received a complaint of a juvenile hiding in a business in the same area. During the course of the investigation, the detective learned that the runaway juvenile listed above drove a forklift into a fence. The juvenile was released to a guardian pending juvenile court proceedings.
Samuel Paul Lyles, 25, 8227 Bayview Drive Beach City Texas, LA was arrested on April 16, 2013 at 7:52 am for reckless operation of a vehicle. A deputy observed a vehicle traveling at a high rate of speed and swerving on Highway 90 in in the Amelia area and conducted a traffic stop. The deputy made contact with the driver of the vehicle who was identified as Lyles. When asked by the deputy why he was speeding, Lyles stated that he was late for work. Lyles was released on a summons to appear in court on July 5, 2013.
Brandon Devon Francis, 26, 111 Sorrel Road Jeanerette, LA was arrested on April 16, 2013 at 7:08 pm on a warrant for probation violation. A deputy responding to a complaint of a disturbance on Sorrel Road made contact with Francis and learned of the warrant for his arrest. Francis was was transported to the parish jail for booking and incarceration. His bond is set at $2,000.
