According to St. Mary Parish Sheriff Mark Hebert, during the last 24 hour reporting period the Sheriff's Office responded to 39 complaints and reports the following arrests:
Jimmie C. Smith, 38, 300 Darlin Street, Patterson, LA was arrested on December 26, 2012 at 9:51 am for theft and criminal trespassing. A deputy responded to a complaint of a theft on Henry Street in Patterson. Upon arrival the deputy learned from the complainant that a male subject entered his yard and stole a gas can containing gasoline. The complainant stated that he located the man at the Murphy USA gas station in Bayou Vista. The complainant provided the deputy with a description of the man and the vehicle he was driving. The deputy located the subject, identified as Smith, at the Murphy USA gas station. Following the investigation Smith was released on a summons to appear in court on March 8, 2013.
Brian Maize, 33, 329 Cardinal Street, Morgan City, LA was arrested on December 26, 2012 at 10:02 am on a warrant for criminal neglect of family. A deputy located Maize at the Morgan City Police Department on the warrant. No bond has been set.
Steven Verret, 26, 5117 Bayou Black Drive, Gibson, LA was arrested on December 27, 2012 at 1:35 am on Highway 182 near Polaris Road in Bayou Vista for disturbing the peace intoxicated. A deputy responded to a complaint of suspicious persons knocking over trash cans on the highway. The deputy located two subjects, one of whom was identified by the complainant. During the course of the investigation the deputy identified the subject as Verret and observed the strong odor of alcohol on his breath. Verret was transported to the parish jail for booking and incarceration. He was released on a $250 bond.
