According to St. Mary Parish Sheriff Mark Hebert, during the last 24 hour reporting period the Sheriff's Office responded to 36 complaints and reports the following arrests:
On December 2, 2012 at 9:56 am Brianell Sharard Wilson, 28, 115 Friendship Alley, Amelia, LA turned himself in at the St. Mary Parish Law Enforcement Center on a warrant for failure to appear on the charges of illegal carrying of a weapon, possession of marijuana, possession of drug paraphernalia, and illegal possession of a controlled dangerous substance in the presence of a minor. Wilson turned himself in after learning of the warrant for his arrest. His bond is set at $25,000. An updated picture is attached.
Wilson was featured in The Daily Review newspaper's Most Wanted series in the Friday, November 30, 2012 edition. The SMPSO received numerous tips on several of the suspects being sought, including Wilson. St. Mary Parish Sheriff Mark Hebert says these types of partnerships between the community and the St. Mary Parish Sheriff's Office make it difficult for suspects to evade authorities. Community policing and public awareness is a key component to ensuring public safety in St. Mary Parish.
Cortney Ranell Griffin, 28, 1212 Carmen Street, Patterson, LA was arrested on December 6, 2012 at 5:14 pm for theft. A deputy responded to a complaint of a shoplifter at Walmart in Bayou Vista, LA. Upon arrival the deputy learned from store security that Griffin, an employee of Walmart, was observed on video surveillance footage taking items from the store. Griffin was released on a summons to appear in court on March 8, 2012.
John Cotchan, 27, 1417 North Third Street, Morgan City, LA was arrested on December 6, 2012 at 5:19 pm at the SMPSO in Franklin, LA for theft of animals. A deputy responded to a complaint of a theft of a dog from a kennel located off of Hwy. 182 in Franklin adjacent to the St. Mary Parish Animal Shelter. Upon arrival the deputy learned from the complainant that a female Pit Bull puppy had been stolen from his kennel. During the course of the investigation the deputy developed Cotchan as a suspect. Following an interview at the SMPSO, Cotchan was transported to the parish jail for booking and incarceration. He was released on a $1000 bond.
Virgil Hebert, 53, 1700 Barrow Street Apt. #3, Amelia, LA was arrested on December 7, 2012 at 1:53 am for domestic abuse battery.
Dorinda Hebert, 47, 1700 Barrow Street Apt. #3, Amelia, LA was arrested on December 7, 2012 at 1:53 am for domestic abuse battery.
A deputy responded to a complaint of domestic abuse at the residence listed above. Upon arrival the deputy learned that Virgil and Dorinda were engaged in a verbal altercation which escalated into physical violence against one another. During the course of the altercation Dorinda scratched Virgil and Virgil pushed Dorinda. Both were transported to the parish jail for booking and incarceration. No bond has been set.
