According to St. Mary Parish Sheriff Mark Hebert, during the last 24 hour reporting period the Sheriff's Office responded to 29 complaints and reports the following arrests:
Aurelio P. Hernandez, 29, 115 Lennys Lane, Morgan City, LA was arrested on November 29, 2012 at 8:54 am for hit and run driving and no insurance. A deputy responded to a complaint of a hit and run accident in Amelia, LA. Upon arrival the deputy learned that while at the Superette a vehicle struck the complainants vehicle and fled the scene. The complainant located the vehicle in the parking lot of Bollinger Shipyard on Degravelle Road. During the course of the investigation the deputy observed paint on Hernandez's vehicle matching that of the complainant's vehicle. Hernandez was released on a summons to appear in court on February 27, 2012.
Mario Gros, Jr., 25, 490 Oregon Street, Berwick LA was arrested on November 29, 2012 at 9:38 am for simple criminal damage to property over $500 at the St. Mary Parish Law Enforcement Center in Centerville, LA. While conducting a check of a cell a deputy observed a burnt out light. Upon further examination it was discovered that the light fixture was damaged. During the course of the investigation the deputy learned that it was Gros who committed the damage. Gros, who was already an inmate at SMPLEC, was booked on the charge. No bond has been set.
