According to St. Mary Parish Sheriff Mark Hebert, during the last 24 hour reporting period the Sheriff's Office responded to 32 complaints and reports the following arrests:
Kyle M. Gregory, 27, 786 Duval Street, Amelia, LA was arrested on November 28, 2012 at 5:42 pm at Walmart in Bayou Vista, LA for theft. A deputy responded to a complaint of a theft at the store. Upon arrival the deputy learned from store security that Gregory was observed taking a DVD and a pair of headphones out of the packaging and then leaving the store without paying for the items. He was released on a summons to appear in court on February 27, 2013.
Krystal Meranta, 23, 206 Clarke Road, Bayou Vista, LA was arrested on November 29, 2012 at 2:06 am for aggravated battery. A deputy responded to a complaint of a battery at Temptation's lounge in Amelia, LA. Upon arrival the deputy learned that Meranta and the female victim had been arguing that evening. During the course of the investigation the deputy observed surveillance video of Meranta striking the victim in the head with the heel end of a high heel shoe. The victim was treated by Acadian Ambulance. Meranta was transported to the parish jail for booking and incarceration. No bond has been set.
