According to Sheriff Mark Hebert during the last 24 hour reporting period the Sheriff's Office
responded to 42 complaints and reports the following arrests:
Corey Malik, 34, 2162 River Rd, Berwick, LA was arrested on July 25, 2012 at 12:35pm at the SMPSO
in Morgan City on a warrant for simple burglary. A deputy investigating a vehicle burglary at a
lounge in Berwick developed Malik as a suspect after viewing surveillance footage of the crime.
Malik was brought in for questioning and following an investigation transported to the parish jail
for booking and incarceration. No bond had been set at the time of the press release. This is the
third arrest made in this investigation that began on July 16, 2012.
Darla Mayon, 47, 206 Saturn Rd, Bayou Vista, LA was arrested on July 25, 2012 at 3:27pm on a
warrant for failure to comply with the conditions of drug court on the original charge of
distribution of Hydrocodone. Mayon was located at her home and transported to the parish jail for
booking and incarceration. Her bond is set at $100,000.
Victor J. Gaudet, 39, 112 South Verret Rd, Amelia, LA was arrested on July 25, 2012 at 7:47pm at
the address above for domestic abuse battery. A deputy responded to the home after the SMPSO
received a complaint. Upon arriving at the residence the deputy could hear two people yelling from
outside the home. During the course of the investigation the deputy learned that Gaudet and his
wife were arguing. The argument escalated and Gaudet committed a battery upon the victim. Gaudet
was released on a $2500 bond.
