According to St. Mary Parish Sheriff Mark Hebert the Narcotics Division made the following arrests:
Max Lamar James, Jr., 29, 530 Orange St. Apartment #123 Morgan City, LA was arrested on March 12, 2013 at 2:10 pm for possession of crack cocaine with intent to distribute, possession of Schedule III (Lortab) with intent to distribute, possession of Schedule IV (Xanax) with intent to distribute, possession of marijuana, 3 counts of possession of a Legend Drug without a prescription, obstruction of justice, violation of a drug free zone, possession of a controlled dangerous substance in the presence of a juvenile, and on a warrant for failure to appear on the charge of criminal neglect of family.
Detectives of the St. Mary Parish Sheriff's Office Narcotics Division conducted a "no knock" search warrant at 530 Orange St. Apartment 123 in Morgan City. Upon their arrival at the residence detectives observed James attempt to dispose of illegal drugs. Through the course of the investigation, detectives located crack cocaine with a street value of approximately $800, Lortab and Xanax pills, pills categorized as Legend Drugs, marijuana, and a digital scale. Detectives also located a small child in the residence. The residence is a housing authority unit and therefore a drug free zone. James was transported to the parish jail for booking and incarceration.
