St. Mary Parish narcotics arrest

A traffic violation on Highway 90 in Morgan City leads to a drug arrest of three people police say.

According to St. Mary Parish Sheriff's Office Spokesperson Traci Landry, 38-year-old Brady Broussard was pulled over by narcotics detectives for committing a traffic violation. Broussard was allegedly operating the vehicle with a suspended license. Also during the traffic stop, detectives located a bag of methamphetamine, Klonopin, Taradal, and Trilafon pills as well as several items of drug paraphernalia including spoons, syringes, and a tourniquet inside the vehicle, stated Landry.

Through the course of the investigation, detectives developed information that alleged illegal drug activity was taking place in the 400 Block of Venus Street in Bayou Vista and made contact with two residents, Stacey Grubb and Scott Dehart. Detectives carried out a search warrant at the location and discovered several bags of methamphetamine with a street value of approximately $14,000, a bag of LSD, a handgun, and several items of drug paraphernalia: spoons, plastic bags, syringes, and digital scales, according to Landry. Narcotics detectives also located $1,121 in cash, which was seized pending forfeiture. Landry stated, detectives believe the money is proceeds from illegal drug transactions. A 4-year-old boy was also located at the residence. The child was released into the care of a family member, according to detectives.

Broussard, Grubb, and Dehart were transported to the St. Mary Parish jail for booking. No bail is set at this time. These arrests were made with the assistance of the Morgan City Police Department Narcotics Division and the Berwick Police Department.
