According to St. Mary Parish Sheriff Mark Hebert, over the last 72 hour reporting period the Sheriff's Office responded to 108 complaints and reports the following arrests:
Charles A. Austin, 49, 412 Senette Street, Cenetrville, LA was arrested on May 9, 2014 at 11:14 am on two warrants for probation violation.
Sandy Berard, 40, 217 Senette Street, Centerville, LA was arrested on May 9, 2014 at 11:14 am on a warrant for probation violation.
A detective with the St. Mary Parish Sheriff's Office Marine Division made contact with Austin and Berard at the Berwick Boat Landing. Both subjects were transported to the parish jail for booking and incarceration. Bond is set for Austin at $20,000. Berard was released on a $10,000 bond.
Ebony Charles, 26, 1441 Mitchell Street, Franklin, LA was arrested on May 9, 2014 at 11:07 am on a warrant for failure to appear on the charge of simple battery. A deputy located Charles at the St. Mary Parish Courthouse in Franklin on the warrant. A deputy transported her to the parish jail for booking and incarceration. No bond is set.
Charlene A. Lawrence, 35, 16 Ainsworoth Road, Jayess, MS was arrested on May 9, 2014 at 9:00 pm for theft of goods, possession of Schedule I (oxycodone), and possession of drug paraphernalia. A deputy responded to complaint of shoplifting at a store in Bayou Vista. The deputy learned from store personnel that Lawrence was seen concealing items in her purse. Lawrence was also found to be in possession of several oxycodone pills and a pill splitter. The deputy transported Lawrence to the parish jail for booking and incarceration. No bond is set.
Noble Thomas, 28, 5713 Royal Street, New Orleans, LA was arrested on May 10, 2014 at 7:40 pm on the following charges:
- Warrant from Calcasieu Parish for failure to register as a sex offender
- Warrant from New Orleans Police Department for failure to register as a sex offender
- Warrant from Acadia Parish for resisting an officer by flight, speeding, no seat belt, open alcoholic container in a motor vehicle, misuse of a temp tag, resisting arrest, possession of drug paraphernalia, and do drivers license
A deputy responded to a request to remove a subject from the Fairview Treatment Center in Bayou Vista. Upon arrival, the deputy learned from personnel that Thomas had made threats toward patients at the center. During the course of the investigation, the deputy discovered the active warrants for Thomas' arrest. The deputy transported Thomas to the parish jail for booking and incarceration. No bond is set.
Fredis Omar Diaz, 25, 113 Bailey's Lane, Amelia, LA was arrested on May 11, 2014 at 3:30 am on the following charges:
- Reckless operation of a vehicle
- Failure to yield to an emergency vehicle
- Open alcoholic container in a motor vehicle
- No drivers license
While assisting a co-worker with a crash on Highway 182 in Morgan City, a deputy observed a vehicle approaching him at a high rate of speed. The vehicle then began to travel onto the shoulder of the roadway toward the spot where the deputy was standing. The deputy quickly stepped out of path of the oncoming vehicle to avoid being struck. The deputy then got into his patrol unit and initiated a traffic stop. The deputy made contact with the driver of the vehicle who was identified as Diaz. During the traffic stop investigation, the deputy observed two open bottles of beer inside the vehicle. The deputy also discovered that Diaz did not have a valid drivers license. The deputy transported Diaz to the parish jail for booking and incarceration. His bond is set at $1,750.
Justin Osborne, 31, 197 CR 1635 Linden, TX was arrested on May 12, 2014 at 4:45 am for possession of Schedule I drugs and possession of drug paraphernalia. A deputy responded to a complaint of a suspicious vehicle at a business on Highway 182 in Amelia. Upon arrival, the deputy observed a subject sleeping inside a pick-up truck parked at the business. The deputy made contact with the subject who was identified as Osborne. While speaking with Osborne, the deputy received consent to search the vehicle and located marijuana, rolling papers, and a glass pipe used for smoking. Another pipe was located Osborne's person. Osborne admitted to using the pipes to smoke marijuana and crystal methamphetamine. Osborne was transported to the parish jail for booking and incarceration. Bond is set at $3,500.
