St. Mary Parish daily arrest report for June 5, 2014

According to St. Mary Parish Sheriff Mark Hebert, over the last 24 hour reporting period the Sheriff's Office responded to 46 complaints and reports the following arrests:

Dustin Burch, 19, 213 Hendricks Street, Patterson, LA was arrested on June 4, 2014 at 10:47 am for probation violation. A detective received information regarding the whereabouts of Burch and located him at his residence on the warrant. A deputy transported Burch to the parish jail for booking. No bond is set.

William Burgess, Jr., 32, 129 Shannon Street, Morgan City, LA was arrested on June 4, 2014 at 3:45 pm for disturbing the peace (intoxication). A deputy responded to a disturbance at a business on Highway 182 in Bayou Vista. The deputy made contact with Burgess who smelled strongly of alcohol. The deputy received statements from witnesses that Burgess was yelling and threatening to fight others at the location. The deputy transported Burgess to the parish jail. He was released on a summons to appear in court on September 3, 2014.

Erick J. Billiot, 23, 629 Park Place, Bayou Vista, LA was arrested on June 4, 2014 at 4:20 pm for forgery. A deputy investigating a complaint of telephone harassment made contact with Billiot at the St. Mary Parish Sheriff's Office in Morgan City. The deputy was advised by a detective that Billiot was a suspect in a forgery case. While speaking with Billiot, he admitted to the detective that he forged the victim's name on a check before cashing it at a check cashing service in Bayou Vista. The deputy transported Billiot to the parish jail for booking. Billiot was released on a $750 bond. The investigation is ongoing.


Arrest Note:
Robert A. Medlin, arrested Tuesday (SEE A 6.4.14 REPORT) at the East Baton Rouge Parish prison now faces an additional charge of felony theft. The St. Mary parish Sheriff's Office began an investigation into the complaint on May 16, 2014. The detective identified Medlin as the subject who used a purchase order number fraudulently to acquire a piece of equipment from a company in Amelia. The item has a value of over $2,000.

Virginia R. Raphiel, 34, 207 Minnie Odum Road, Robline, LA was arrested on June 5, 2014 at 1:17 am on the following charges:
- Possession of methamphetamine with intent to distribute
- Possession of Schedule IV (Ativan)
- Possession of marijuana
- Possession of Legend Drug (Neurontin)
- Obstruction of justice
- Failure to signal 100 ft. prior to a turn


Kevin Latchie, 31, 206 Sylvan Drive, Natchitoches, LA was arrested on June 5, 2014 at 1:17 am on the following charges:
- Possession of methamphetamine with intent to distribute
- Possession of marijuana, 4th offense
- Obstruction of justice
- Transactions involving drug proceeds
While patrolling the Morgan City area, detectives of the St. Mary Parish Sheriff's Office Narcotics Division observed a vehicle fail to properly signal a turn onto Federal Avenue. Detectives conducted a traffic stop. When detectives approached the vehicle, they saw methamphetamine and marijuana inside. Detectives also located Ativan and Neurontin pills. The driver, identified as Raphiel, attempted to hide a bag of meth on her person. The methamphetamine found during the investigation has an estimated street value of $12,600.00. Detectives also located $7,190.00 in cash (US currency). Raphiel and passenger, Latchie, were transported to the parish jail for booking. No bond is set.
