St. Mary Parish daily arrest report for June 30, 2014

According to St. Mary Parish Sheriff Mark Hebert, over the last 72 hour reporting period the Sheriff's Office responded to 132 complaints and reports the following arrests:

Jason J. Ashley, 26, 189 North Prairie Road, Franklin, LA was arrested on June 27, 2014 at 9:58 am on a warrant for theft of utility services and three warrants for probation violation. The warrant for theft of utilities stems from an investigation into a complaint of a theft of water service from a location in Calumet. A deputy transported Ashley from Assumption Parish to the St. Mary Parish Law Enforcement Center in Centerville on the warrants. After booking, Ashley was transferred to the Assumption Parish jail.

Eulalia H. McCoy, 19, 304 Sneed Street, Berwick, LA was arrested on June 27, 2014 at 12:09 pm on a warrant for failure to appear on the charges of possession of MDMA with intent to distribute. A deputy transported McCoy from the Iberia Parish Sheriff's Office to the St. Mary parish Law Enforcement Center in Centerville on the warrant. No bond is set.

Henry Fontenot, 26, 117 Robicheaux Lande, Verdunville, LA was arrested on June 27, 2014 at 12:34 pm on a warrant for failure to provide notice as a sex offender. A deputy located Fontenot at the St. Mary Parish Sheriff's Office in Franklin on the warrant. The deputy transported Fontenot to the parish jail for booking and incarceration. Bond is set at $30,000. Cody Leblanc, 19, 625 West Leblanc Road, Delcambre, LA was arrested on June 27, 2014 at 2:01 pm on a warrant for failure to appear on the charges of disturbing the peace, no seat belt, and reckless operation of a vehicle. Leblanc was surrendered on a bond at the parish jail. He was later released on a $2,500 bond.

James A. Gaines, 27, 188 Beadle Street, Amelia, LA was arrested on June 27, 2014 at 3:16 pm for domestic abuse battery. A deputy responded to a report of domestic abuse at a residence in Amelia. During the course of the investigation, the deputy determined that Gaines and a female subject were involved in an argument when Gaines pushed the female victim against a wall repeatedly. The deputy transported Gaines to the parish jail for booking. No bond is set. A picture of Gaines is included.

Gus Bowie, 49, 2411 Sixth Street, Lot #7, Jeanerette, LA was arrested on June 27, 2014 at 10:44 pm on the following charges:
- Improper lane usage
- Expired inspection sticker
- Possession of a Schedule I
- Violation of a uniform controlled dangerous substance law (drug free zone)
- Possession of open alcoholic beverages in motor vehicles
A deputy observed a vehicle travelling at a low rate of speed on Highway 182 in the Baldwin area. The deputy followed the vehicle and observed the driver swerving over the centerline and onto the shoulder of the roadway. The deputy conducted a traffic stop and made contact with the driver identified as Bowie. Upon speaking with Bowie, the deputy smelled the odor of an alcoholic beverage on his person. The deputy received consent to search and located an open beer bottle inside the vehicle. The deputy also located a small bag of marijuana on Bowie's person. The deputy transported Bowie to the parish jail for booking. No bond is set.

Eleni M. Pertuz, 21, 4173 Ames Boulevard, Marrero, LA was arrested on June 28, 2014 at 2:34 am for simple battery. A deputy patrolling the Amelia area responded to a complaint of a fight at a lounge. Upon arrival, the deputy learned that Pertuz grabbed a female victim and hit her. The deputy released Pertuz on a summons to appear in court on September 3, 2014.

Dennis Gonzalez, 26, 129 Village Lane, Amelia, LA was arrested on June 28, 2014 at 3:42 am for possession of open alcoholic beverages in motor vehicles. A deputy patrolling the Amelia area conducted a traffic stop on a vehicle that appeared to have an improperly lit license plate. The deputy made contact with the driver, identified as Gonzalez, and observed an open beer bottle inside the vehicle. The deputy released Gonzalez on a summons to appear in court on September 3, 2014.

Alex J. Goodyear, 23, 121 West Lawrence Street, New Iberia, LA was arrested on June 29, 2014 at 2:51 pm for illegal possession of stolen firearms. While on patrol, detectives with the St. Mary Parish Sheriff's Office Marine Division responded to a complaint of a stranded boater near the Charenton Beach Landing. Detectives located and made contact with the boater, identified as Goodyear. Goodyear told detectives that he ran out of gas while catching frogs in the area. Detectives saw no evidence that Goodyear had been out to catch frogs and became suspicious of his claim. Upon further investigation, the detectives located a handgun in the boat that had been reported stolen in the Natchitoches area. Goodyear was transported to the parish jail for booking. No bond is set.

David Carline, 56, 106 Southeast Boulevard Apt. #1, Bayou Vista, LA was arrested on June 29, 2014 at 5:24 pm for disturbing the peace (intoxicated) and remaining where forbidden. A deputy responded to a complaint of subject who refused to leave a bar on Highway 182 in Bayou Vista. Upon arrival, the deputy made contact with Carline who was highly intoxicated. The deputy learned that Carline had been asked to leave the bar several times but refused. The deputy transported Carline to the parish jail for booking. Carline was later released on a summons to appear in court on September 3, 2014.

David Bonner, 47, 111 Pecan Lane, Patterson, LA was arrested on June 29, 2014 at 9:00 pm on a warrant for domestic abuse battery. While responding to a complaint on Pecan Lane, a deputy made contact with Bonner who was wanted on the active warrant. The warrant stems from an investigation into a domestic dispute that occurred in July of 2012. The investigating deputy learned that Bonner pushed a female victim following a verbal argument between the two. The deputy transported Bonner the parish jail for booking. No bond is set. Andrew Goleman, 35, 213 Railroad Road, Patterson, LA was arrested on June 27, 2014 at 3:24 pm on a warrant for operation of a clandestine laboratory. Detectives with the St. Mary Parish Sheriff's Office Narcotics Division located Goleman at his residence on the warrant. The warrant stems from an investigation of an active methamphetamine lab at a residence on Park Place Lane in Bayou Vista. Detectives identified Goleman as one of the subjects involved in the operation of the illegal lab. Detectives transported Goleman to the parish jail for booking. No bond is set. James Gash, 33, 1802 N Street, Patterson, LA was arrested on June 27, 2014 at 4:01 pm on the following charges:
- Possession of marijuana with intent to distribute
- Possession of crack cocaine with intent to distribute
- Possession of Schedule I (MDMA)
- Possession of drug paraphernalia
- Violation of controlled dangerous substance law (drug free zone)
- Possession of a CDS in the presence of a minor
- Driving under suspension
- Improper display of license plate
- Transactions involving drug proceeds

Narcotics detectives patrolling the Bayou Vista area observed a vehicle with no visible license plate displayed. Detectives conducted a traffic stop on Southeast Boulevard and made contact with the driver, identified as Gash. Upon checking Gash's information, detectives learned that Gash was driving under suspension. Continuing the investigation, detectives received consent to search the vehicle and located several bags of crack cocaine with an estimated street value of over $13,000 dollars. Detectives also located several bags of high grade marijuana with a street value of approximately $1,140 dollars and a bag of MDMA capsules with an approximate street value $240. Items of drug paraphernalia including razor blades and rolling papers were found inside the vehicle as well. Detectives located $9,329.00 dollars in cash (US currency) on Gash's person which was seized pending forfeiture. Detectives believe the money was derived from illegal drug sales. There was a 5 year old child in the vehicle at the time the drugs were located. Detectives transported Gash to the parish jail for booking. Bond is set at $97,000.
