According to St. Mary Parish Sheriff Mark Hebert, over the last 24 hour reporting period the Sheriff's Office responded to 48 complaints and reports the following arrests:
Sidney Istre, 63, 2719 Highway 90, New Iberia, LA was arrested on June 2, 2014 at 10:45 am for 5 counts oral sexual battery and 6 counts forcible rape. On May 24, 2014, the St. Mary Parish Sheriff's Office Criminal Investigation Division received a complaint of oral sexual battery. During the course of the investigation, the detective determined that Istre had sexual contact with a 6 year old male victim on multiple occasions between the years of 2001 and 2003. The detective also determined that one additional incident involving another male victim occurred in 2003. That victim was 12 years old at the time. Istre committed the molestations during fishing trips that he would take the children on in the Franklin area. Istre is a registered sex offender, convicted in 2005 of indecent behavior with juveniles .Sidney Istre was transported from the Iberia Parish jail to the St. Mary Parish Law Enforcement Center in Centerville . No bond is set.
Jorman J. James, 31, 1708 Fern Street, Patterson, LA was arrested on June 2, 2014 at 12:26 pm on a warrant for attempted theft and criminal damage to property. On May 24, 2014, a deputy was dispatched to Alice C Road in Centerville in reference to a possible theft from the St. Mary Parish Levee District. Upon arrival, the deputy observed three male subjects cutting up sheet pilings. The deputy made contact with one of the subjects identified as James. James initially told the deputy that he had permission to take the metal. The deputy ordered James to cease work pending further investigation. The deputy later learned that James did not have permission to take the pilings and a warrant was issued for his arrest. The total estimated cost to replace the damaged sheet piling is $4,900. James turned himself in at the parish jail in Centerville after learning of the warrant for his arrest. James was released on a $2,000 bond.
Nicole W. Bowman, 44, 214 Jupiter Street, Bayou Vista, LA was arrested on June 2, 2014 at 3:04 pm for felony theft ($900). On May 14, 2014, a detective with the St. Mary Parish Criminal Investigation Division received a complaint of employee theft from a store in Bayou Vista. The detective identified Bowman as the employee who stole cash from a register in the store. During the course of the investigation, Bowman admitted to the detective that she stole $900 in cash while employed at the store. Bowman was transported to the parish jail for booking and incarceration. No bond is set.
Tyler Davis, 17, 124 Natalie Lane, Patterson, LA was arrested on June 3, 2014 at 12:07 am for simple battery. A deputy was dispatched to a Riverview Drive in Patterson to investigate a report of a battery. During the course of the investigation, the deputy learned that a male subject was walking on Riverview Drive when Davis approached him and began punching the victim in the face. The deputy located Davis at his residence. After further investigation, the deputy transported Davis to the parish jail for booking and incarceration. Davis was later released on a $500 bond.
