St. Mary Parish Daily Arrest Report

According to St. Mary Parish Sheriff Mark Hebert, over the last 24 hour reporting period the Sheriff's Office responded to 43 complaints and reports the following arrests:

Michael Olinsky, 26, 445 Southeast Boulevard Lot B, Bayou Vista, LA was arrested on April 28, 2014 at 11:56 am at the St. Mary Parish Sheriff's Office in Morgan City for domestic abuse battery (strangulation) and domestic abuse battery (in the presence of a juvenile). A deputy responded to a call from Teche Regional Hospital regarding a report of possible domestic abuse. During the course of the investigation, the deputy learned that Olinsky grabbed a female victim by the throat during an argument. There were children in the home at the time the battery occurred. While speaking with the deputy, Olinsky admitted to committing the battery. Olinsky was transported to the parish jail for booking and incarceration. No bond is set.

Carlos Alberto Pichs Franco, 42, 1110 C. Ditch Street, Morgan City, LA was arrested on April 28, 2014 at 8:47 am on a warrant for theft. A deputy located Franco at a business on River Road in Berwick on the warrant. The warrant stems from an investigation into a stolen check that was cashed at an Amelia business. The deputy identified Franco as the subject who cashed the check for over $1,500. Franco was transported to the parish jail for booking and incarceration. Bond is set at $5,000.

Christopher Hobbler, 26, 761 Fairfield Avenue, Gretna, LA was arrested on April 28, 2014 at 12:53 pm on a warrant for failure to appear on the charges of possession of drug paraphernalia and speeding. A deputy located Hobbler at the St. Mary Parish Courthouse in Franklin on the warrant. He was transported to the parish jail for booking and incarceration. Hobbler was released on a $5,000 bond.

Kenneth Hamilton, III, 26, 212 Ocean Side Boulevard, Oceanside, CA was arrested on April 28, 2014 at 12:57 pm on a warrant for failure to appear on the charges of resisting an officer by force, simple criminal damage to property, battery of a police officer, and disturbing the peace (intoxicated). A deputy located Hamilton at the St. Mary Parish Courthouse in Franklin on the warrant. He was transported to the parish jail for booking and incarceration. Bond is set at $10,000.

Lydia J. Cruz, 28, 911 Chestnut Street, Morgan City, LA was arrested on April 28, 2014 at 1:50 pm on a warrant for illegal possession of stolen things. A deputy investigating a complaint of stolen jewelry discovered that Cruz pawned the items at a local pawn shop. Cruz was located at her residence on the warrant and transported to the parish jail for booking and incarceration. No bond is set.

Lowanda Ruffin, 29, 2308 Federal Avenue, Morgan City, LA was arrested on April 28, 2014 at 3:22 pm for theft of goods. A deputy responded to a complaint of shoplifting at a store in Bayou Vista. Upon arrival, the deputy learned from store personnel that Ruffin was seen concealing items in her pockets before leaving the store without paying for the items. Ruffin was released on a summons to appear in court on July 7, 2014.

Rocky Giroir, 33, 404 Corona Drive, Lafayette, LA was arrested on April 29, 2014 at 2:21 am for careless operation and open alcoholic container in a motor vehicle. A deputy traveling on Aycock Street in Morgan City observed a vehicle back out of a driveway at a high rate of speed crossing both lanes of traffic nearly striking the police unit. The deputy conducted a traffic stop. Upon making contact with the driver, identified as Giroir, the deputy smelled the strong odor of an alcoholic beverage emanating from the vehicle. Through further investigation, the deputy located a cup containing an alcoholic beverage in console of the vehicle. Giroir was released on a summons to appear in court on July 11, 2014.
