According to St. Mary Parish Sheriff Mark Hebert, over the last 24 hour reporting period the Sheriff's Office responded to 32 complaints and reports the following arrests:
Chad Pickens, 32, 1600 Cedar Street, Morgan City, LA was arrested on April 15, 2014 at 11:55 am on a warrant from Morgan City Police for simple criminal damage to property. A deputy located Pickens at the St. Mary Parish Courthouse in Franklin on the warrant. He was transported to the parish jail and later transferred to another jurisdiction.
Kenneth Alfred, 40, 504 Hilda Street, Morgan City, LA was arrested on April 15, 2014 at 12:23 pm for violation of stop signs and yield signs and possession of drug paraphernalia. A deputy patrolling the Bayou Vista area observed a vehicle fail to stop at a stop sign on Southeast Boulevard and conducted a traffic stop. The deputy made contact with the driver, identified as Alfred. During the course of the traffic stop investigation, the deputy located a piece of a straw containing a white residue. Alfred admitted to the deputy that the item had been used for the consumption of illegal drugs. Alfred was released on a summons to appear in court on July 11, 2014.
Taylor Murphy, 19, 151 Greenleaf Boulevard, Morgan City, LA was arrested on April 15, 2014 at 2:58 pm for disturbing the peace and resisting an officer with force. A deputy responded to a complaint of a disturbance at a residence on South Verret Street in Amelia. Upon arrival, the deputy made contact with a female subject who began shouting at the deputy. The subject was identified as Murphy. As the deputy attempted to speak with the complainant, Murphy continued to yell and scream refusing to comply with the deputy's repeated requests to step away from residence. While being placed under arrest, Murphy pulled away from the deputy multiple times. Murphy was transported to the parish jail for booking and incarceration. No bond is set.
Jelena Roberts, 56, 341 Hunting Road, Franklin, LA was arrested on April 15, 2014 at 3:56 pm for theft of goods. A deputy responded to a complaint of shoplifting at a store in Bayou Vista. Upon arrival, the deputy learned from store personnel that Roberts was seen switching price tags on items. She was also observed to be concealing items under her purse before leaving the store without paying for those goods. Roberts was released on a summons to appear in court on July 11, 2014.
Thomas Remedies, 21, 1410 Second Street, Morgan City, LA was arrested on April 15, 2014 at 8:51 pm on a warrant for theft. A deputy made contact with Remedies during an investigation into an unrelated complaint. The deputy knew Remedies to be wanted on the warrant. The warrant stems from an investigation into the theft of a purse caught on video surveillance at a casino in Amelia. Remedies was released on a summons to appear in court on July 11, 2014.
