According to St. Mary Parish Sheriff Mark Hebert, over the last 24 hour reporting period the Sheriff's Office responded to 44 complaints and reports the following arrests:
Eric L. Fontenot, 28, 901 Branche Street, Rayne, LA was arrested on April 3, 2014 at 1:34 pm for reckless operation of a vehicle, possession of Schedule IV (Xanax), and possession of a synthetic cannabinoid. A deputy was dispatched to a single vehicle crash on Prairie Road North in Verdunville. As the deputy made contact with Fontenot, who was sitting in the driver's seat of the car, the deputy saw pieces of a white pill in the door. The pill pieces were identified as Xanax. The deputy also observed a bag of a green leafy substance on the seat where Fontenot was sitting. The substance was determined to be synthetic marijuana. During the course of the crash investigation, the deputy learned that Fontenot lost control of the vehicle after something inside the car had fallen on the floor. Fontenot failed to negotiate a curve, travelled off the roadway and into a ditch. The car continued to travel hitting a culvert and a utility pole guide wire before striking a residence. Fontenot was transported to the parish jail for booking and incarceration. No bond is set.
Addie Guidry, 35, 2478 Sixth Street, Berwick, LA was arrested n April 3, 2014 at 6:51 pm for theft of goods. A deputy responded to a complaint of shoplifting at a store in Bayou Vista. Upon arrival, the deputy learned from store personnel that Guidry was seen tearing tags off of merchandise and concealing the items on her person. Guidry then attempted to leave the store without paying for the goods. Guidry was transported to the parish jail for booking and incarceration. Bond is set at $1,000.
