St. Mary Parish Daily Arrest Report

According to St. Mary Parish Sheriff Mark Hebert, over the last 24 hour reporting period the Sheriff's Office responded to 33 complaints and reports the following arrests:

Michael S. Miller, 36, 204 Southwest Road, Morgan City, LA was arrested on March 5, 2014 at 9:35 am on a warrant for violation of a protective order and careless operation of a motor vehicle. A deputy located Miller at a business on Highway 182 in Bayou Vista on the warrant. The warrant stems from an investigation into a report of a violation of a protective order on February 25, 2014. During the course of the investigation, the deputy learned that while driving on Highway 182 Miller intentionally crossed a lane of traffic nearly striking the victim's vehicle. Miller was transported to the parish jail for booking and incarceration. No bond is set.

Chad Toups, 39, 112 Doris Road, Amelia, LA was arrested on March 5, 2014 at 1:25 pm for resisting an officer by giving false information, and on two warrants for theft and resisting and officer. A deputy developed information regarding the whereabouts of a subject who was wanted on warrants. The deputy located Toups on Doris Road. Toups initially gave the deputy a false name. The warrant for theft stems from an investigation into a stolen video game systems and video games. The second warrant for resisting an officer is the result of an encounter with Toups on Francis Street in which a deputy engaged in a foot pursuit after Toups fled. Toups was transported to the parish jail for booking and incarceration. No bond is set.

David McDonald, 50, 10753 Highway 182, Franklin, LA was arrested on March 5, 2014 at 1:48 pm on a warrant for unauthorized use of an access card and theft. A deputy received information regarding the whereabouts of McDonald and located him on Northwest Boulevard in Franklin. The warrant is the result of an investigation into a report of stolen credit cards. The deputy discovered that one of the cards had been used by McDonald at a local fast food restaurant. McDonald was transported to the parish jail for booking and incarceration. No bond is set.

Sanford S. Sims, 34, 1201 Davis Street, New Iberia, LA was arrested on March 5, 2014 at 4:15 pm on a warrant from Iberia Parish Sheriff's Office for simple burglary. While investigating a complaint of a suspicious vehicle near the Myette Point levee, a deputy made contact with Sims and learned of the warrant for his arrest. Sims was transported to the parish jail for booking and incarceration. Bail is set at $100,000.

Joseph Robertson, 48, 400 Darlene Street, Patterson, LA was arrested on March 5, 2014 at 8:53 am for domestic abuse battery in the presence of a juvenile. A deputy responded to a report of disturbance at a residence on Darlene Street. During the course of the investigation, the deputy determined that Robertson began an argument with a female subject during which Robertson pushed and hit the female victim. The battery occurred in the presence of a toddler. Robertson was transported to the parish jail for booking and incarceration. No bond is set.

James Fletcher, 55, 1903 Cleary Road, Florence , MS was arrested on March 6, 2014 at 1:06 am for careless operation and driving while intoxicated. A deputy assisting with traffic on Highway 182 in Morgan City while an electric company worked to restore power observed a vehicle travel passed the sheriff's unit and electric workers at a high rate of speed. The deputy initiated a traffic stop and made contact with the driver, identified as Fletcher. The deputy observed Fletcher stumble as he exited the vehicle and smelled the odor of an alcoholic beverage on his breath. Fletcher refused to conduct a field sobriety test or submit to a breath test. Following the investigation, Fletcher was transported to the parish jail for booking and incarceration. No bond is set.
