St.Mary Parish Daily Arrest Report

According to St. Mary Parish Sheriff Mark Hebert, during the last 72 hour reporting period the Sheriff's Office responded to 160 complaints and reports the following arrests:

Channing Riley, 30, 307 Barrow Street, Morgan City, LA was arrested on December 14, 2012 at 1:57 pm on 5 warrants for multiple counts of issuing worthless checks and on a warrant from Terrebonne Parish Sheriff's Office for issuing worthless checks. A deputy located Channing on the warrants at the Morgan City Police Department Jail where he is being held on unrelated charges.

Melvin Williams, Jr., 40, 1138 Lee Charles Street, Franklin, LA was arrested on December 14, 2012 at 6:51 pm for aggravated second degree battery. A deputy responded to a complaint of a battery at a residence on Chitimacha Trail in Charenton. During the course of the investigation, the deputy learned that Williams was among a group of people involved in an argument at the residence. The verbal altercation escalated when Williams struck a female victim on the head with a stick. The victim was transported to Franklin Foundation Hospital. Williams was transported to the parish jail for booking and incarceration. No bond has been set.

Chad Toups, 38, 112 Doris Road, Amelia, LA was arrested on December 15, 2012 at the St. Mary Parish Law Enforcement Center for theft over $1500, theft by fraud, resisting an officer by giving false information and on a warrant for simple burglary of an inhabited dwelling. Toups is also charged on a warrant from Terrebonne Parish Sheriff's Office for theft of a motor vehicle. A deputy responded to a complaint of a theft at a business on Lake Palourde Road in Amelia. While investigating that complaint the SMPSO received another complaint of a male subject attempting to sell an item. The subject was located walking on Lake Palourde Road. During the investigation the subject was identified as Toups. The deputy also learned that the item he was attempting to sell was a pressure washer that had been stolen from the business in the first complaint. Toups was transported to the parish jail for booking and incarceration. No bond is set.

Martinez Alvarado, 100 Martin Lane, Amelia, LA was arrested on December 15, 2012 at 7:48 am for operating a vehicle without lawful presence in the United States. A deputy working a complaint on Duhon Boulevard came into contact with Alvarado who drove up to the scene. The deputy later learned that Alvarado was driving without lawful presence in the U.S. He was transported to the parish jail for booking and incarceration. No bond is set.

Keisha M. Thomas, 36, 502 Lawrence Street, Morgan City, LA was arrested on December 15, 2012 at 11:17 am on a warrant for issuing worthless checks. A deputy responding to a complaint of a stranded motorist made contact with Thomas who was wanted on the warrant. She was released on a summons to appear in court on March 8, 2013.

Julie Ann Campos, 39, 1326 Belleview Street, Bayou Vista, LA was arrested on December 15, 2012 at 1:56 pm for theft. A deputy responded to a complaint of a theft at the residence listed above. Upon arrival the deputy learned from a cab driver that Campos refused to pay her fare. She was transported to the parish jail for booking and incarceration. Her bond is set at $1000.

Chase Paul Bertrand, 27, 512 Joey Street, Patterson, LA was arrested on December 15, 2012 at 6:25 pm on a warrant for failure to appear on the charge of disturbing the peace. A deputy responding to a complaint of a disturbance came into contact with Bertrand who was wanted on the warrant. He was transported to the parish jail for booking and incarceration. His bond is set at $350.

Anothony Joseph Prince, 31, 2909 Patoutville Road, Jeanerette, LA was arrested on December 15, 2012 at 7:39 pm for possession of marijuana and possession of drug paraphernalia. A deputy patrolling Highway 90 in the Berwick area observed a vehicle with a burnt headlight and conducted a traffic stop. Upon speaking with the driver, identified as Prince, the deputy smelled the odor of marijuana emanating from the vehicle. The deputy received consent to search the vehicle and located clear plastic bags containing marijuana, a glass pipe, and other drug paraphernalia. Prince was released on a summons to appear in court on March 8, 2013.

Matthew Paul Villien, 23, 142 Lodge Pole, Lafayette, LA was arrested on December 15, 2012 at 8:25 pm for no license plate, careless operation of a motor vehicle, possession of marijuana 2nd offense, possession of drug paraphernalia, and possession of a Legend Drug without a prescription (Tramadol). A deputy patrolling Highway 90 in the Berwick area observed a vehicle operating carelessly at the intersection of Highway 90 at Thurguson Drive and conducted a traffic stop. During the course of the investigation the deputy observed that the vehicle had no license plate. The deputy received consent to search the vehicle and located a marijuana cigarette and a pill. Villien was transported to the parish jail for booking and incarceration. No bond has been set.

Timothy Parker, 56, 1025 1/2 Cayce Street, Franklin, LA was arrested on December 15, 2012 at 8:36 pm on a warrant for failure to appear on the charges of no drivers license and no child restraint. A deputy patrolling the Centerville area observed a vehicle fail to use a turn signal and conducted a traffic stop on Irish Bend Road. During the course of the investigation the deputy learned that the driver, identified as Parker, was wanted on a warrant. He was transported to the parish jail for booking and incarceration. His bond is set at $5000.

Rediance D. Perez, 22, 101 Three B's Lane #18, Bayou Vista, LA was arrested on December 16, 2012 at 3:19 am on a warrant for theft. A deputy responding to a complaint on Three B's Lane came into contact with Perez who was wanted on the warrant. She was transported to the parish jail for booking and incarceration. No bond is set.

Mckinley Defils, 54, 870 Hwy. 318, Jeanerette, LA was arersted on December 16, 2012 at 4:48 pm for illegal possession of stolen things.

Theron Alexander, 32, 133 Charles Lane, Jeanerette, LA was arrested on December 16, 2012 at 4:48 pm for illegal possession of stolen things.

A deputy responded to a complaint of four wheelers riding on private property on Big Four Corners Road. Upon arrival the deputy observed several all terrain vehicles including dirt bikes and four wheelers. During the course of the investigation the deputy learned that two of the dirt bikes had been reported stolen.
Both Defils and Alexander were transported to the parish jail for booking and incarceration. Both were released on a $3500 bond.

John Morgan Hardy, 48, 831 Degravelle Road, Morgan City, LA was arrested on December 16, 2012 at 3:50 pm for disturbing the peace. A deputy patrolling the Amelia area responded to a complaint of a shoplifter at Ganaway's. Upon arrival the deputy made contact with Hardy, who during the course of the investigation, began arguing and using profanity outside the business. Hardy was transported to the parish jail for booking and incarceration. He was released on a $250 bond.

Martin Contreras, 32, 3943 Pleasant Run Road, Irving, TX was arrested on December 17, 2012 at 1:16 am for license plate light required, possession of marijuana, possession of drug paraphernalia, operating a vehicle without lawful presence in the United States, and unlawful possession of fraudulent documents.

Ricardo Montes, 30, 2906 Joanna Drive, Farmers Branch, TX was arrested on December 17, 2012 at 1:16 am for possession of marijuana and possession of drug paraphernalia.

Fernando Acosta-Flores, 41, 718 Poula Street, Irving, TX was arrested on December 17, 2012 at 1:16 am for possession of marijuana and possession of drug paraphernalia.

A deputy patrolling Hwy. 90 in the Berwick area observed a vehicle without a license plate light and conducted a traffic stop. Upon speaking with the driver, identified as Contreras, the deputy observed the odor of marijuana emanating from the vehicle. During the course of the investigation the deputy located marijuana and drug paraphernalia on the passengers, Montes and Flores, and a burnt marijuana cigarette in the vehicle. Contreras was also found to be in possession of a fraudulent document. All three occupants were transported to the parish jail for booking and incarceration. No bond is set for Contreras. Flores and Montes' bond is set at $3500
