In St. Mary Parish council members will vote on an ordinance regulating the possession of pit bulls. The council will take up the issue tomorrow.

It makes it unlawful to own, keep or sell any pit bull within the unincorporated areas of St. Mary Parish unless the dog is licensed. The ordinance also requires dog owners to post pit bull signs on their property. It also imposes up to 500 dollars in fines for those who break the law. It becomes effective April first, if it passes.
