According to St. Mary Parish Sheriff Mark Hebert, over the last 24 hour reporting period the Sheriff's Office responded to 43 complaints and reports the following arrests:
Pearl Ross, 29, 224 North Verret Street, Amelia, LA was arrested on January 6, 2014 at 9:43 am on a warrant for hit and run, failure to report and accident, and possession of open alcoholic beverages in a motor vehicle. Ross turned herself in at the St. Mary Parish Law Enforcement Center in Centerville after learning of the warrant for her arrest. The warrant stems from an investigation into a hit and run crash on Highway 182 in Amelia which occurred on December 28, 2013. Dispatch relayed a description of a male and female subject who fled the area on foot following the crash. The male subject, Troy Carnley, was arrested shortly after the incident. During the course of the investigation, the female subject who fled was identified as Ross and a warrant was issued for her arrest. This is the second arrest made in this case, (See report released on December 30, 2013 for more info.) Ross was released on a $2,500 bond.
John Finister, V, 20, 104 Chris Lane, Centerville, LA was arrested on January 6, 2014 at 12:42 pm for 3 counts simple burglary. Detectives conducting an investigation into a burglary that occurred at a warehouse on Highway 182 in the Garden City area identified Finister as a suspect. Upon speaking with him, Finister admitted to committing the burglary. Detectives executed a search warrant at Finister's residence and located items that had been reported stolen. Finister was transported to the parish jail for booking and incarceration. No bond is set.
David J. Billiot, 101 Joshua Circle, Lafayette, LA was arrested on January 6, 2014 at 3:46 pm for theft (over $500). On December 29, 2013, St. Mary Parish Sheriff's Office received a report of a theft that occurred at a business on Siracusa Road in Morgan City. Working with video surveillance, the detective identified Billiot along with two other subjects as suspects in the theft. Billiot to taking items from the yard that could be sold as scrap. Billiot was released on a summons to appear in court on March 28, 2014. This is the third arrest made in this case. (See report released on January 3, 2014 for more info.)
Mark A. White, 31, 110 Alexander Lane, Franklin, LA was arrested on January 6, 2014 at 5:08 pm on a warrant for failure to appear on the charge of obstruction or interference with members of staff, faculty or students of an educational institution. A deputy located White at his residence on the warrant. White was transported to the parish jail for booking and incarceration. No bond is set.
