According to St. Mary Parish Sheriff Mark Hebert, over the last 72 hour reporting period the Sheriff's Office responded to 102 complaints and reports the following arrests:
Russell Vanbrocklin, Sr., 52, 7267 Highway 182, Franklin, LA was arrested on December 6, 2013 at 12:16 pm for battery of a police officer. While at the St. Mary Parish Courthouse in Franklin, a deputy was alerted to a disturbance and observed a male subject yelling and cursing at a bailiff. The subject then pushed the bailiff. Vanbrocklin was transported to the parish jail for booking and incarceration. No bond is set.
Charles Variet, 49, 409 Clement Street, Patterson, LA was arrested on December 6, 2013 at 4:45 pm for theft. A deputy responded to a local scrap yard in reference to a complaint of theft. Upon arrival, the deputy learned that scrap metal was stolen from a property in the Patterson area and sold. After speaking with witnesses, Variet was identified as a suspect in the theft. Variet was located at his residence and transported to the parish jail for booking and incarceration. Bond is set at $5,000.
Kristen Lipari, 41, 808 Main Street, Patterson, LA was arrested on December 7, 2013 at 1:47 pm for theft of goods. A deputy responded to a complaint of shoplifting at a store in Bayou Vista. Upon arrival, the deputy learned from store personnel that Lipari was seen placing items underneath her purse. Upon checking out, Lipari failed to pay for the items. She was released on a summons to appear in court on March 26, 2014.
Jeffrey Meadows, 32, 7141 Douglas Oaks Road, Millington, TX was arrested on December 7, 2013 at 3:12 pm on a warrant for probation violation. Meadows was transported from Shelby County Sheriff's Office in Tennessee to the St. Mary Parish Law Enforcement Center on the warrant. No bond is set.
Wesley Chappelle, 50, 120 Emy Lane, Patterson, LA was arrested on December 7, 2013 at 6:06 pm for simple battery, battery of a police officer, resisting an officer with force, entering contraband into a penal institution. A deputy responded to a disturbance at a residence on Emy Lane. During the course of the investigation, the deputy learned that Chappelle shoved a male victim during an argument. During Chappelle's arrest, he bit a deputy on the finger. No bond is set.
Earl Brown, 26, 505 ½ Lombard Street, Franklin, LA was arrested on December 8, 2013 at 9:16 pm for reckless operation of a vehicle. A deputy assisting Franklin Police with an investigation observed Brown driving at a high rate of speed through a parking lot in Franklin. Brown was released on a summons to appear in court on March 26, 2014.
Morris Madison, 44, Highway 182 Verdunville, LA was arrested on December 6, 2013 at 2:56 pm for possession of synthetic cannabinoids and abuse of toxic vapors. Detectives of the St. Mary Parish Narcotics Division conducted a stop on a vehicle in the Verdunville area. Detectives were granted consent to search the vehicle and located an open pack of synthetic cannabinoids. Madison, a passenger in the vehicle, was released on a summons to appear in court on March 26, 2014.
Gary Blanchard, 45, 510 Barrow St. Houma, LA was arrested on December 6, 2013 at 11:14 pm on the following charges:
Possession of methamphetamine with intent to distribute
Possession of MDMA
Possession of drug paraphernalia
Transactions involving drug proceeds
Narcotics detectives conducted a traffic stop on a vehicle for failure to use a turn signal and having an unlit tail light. The vehicle was stopped near the Hwy 182 and Hwy 70 junction in Morgan City. Detectives made contact with the driver, identified as Blanchard. During the course of the investigation, narcotics detectives contacted Morgan City Police K-9 to assist. The K-9 indicated the presence of illegal drugs inside the vehicle. Narcotics detectives searched the vehicle and found multiple bags of methamphetamine, a bag containing ecstasy pills, a digital scale, pipe, and $850 dollars cash. Narcotics detectives believe the cash was derived from drug proceeds. The money was seized pending forfeiture. Blanchard was transported to the parish jail for booking and incarceration. No bond is set.
