According to St. Mary Parish Sheriff Mark Hebert, during the last 24 hour reporting period the Sheriff's Office responded to 43 complaints and reports the following arrests:
Tanya Lynn Naverre, 34, 2428 Apple Street, Morgan City, LA was arrested on October 24, 2013 at 11:02 am on a warrant for failure of a sex offender to notify law enforcement of a change of address. Naverre was located on the warrant at the St. Mary Parish Sheriff's Office in Franklin. In 2003 Naverre was convicted of carnal knowledge of a juvenile in St. Mary Parish. Naverre was transported to the parish jail for booking and incarceration. No bond is set. A picture of Naverre is included.
Janet H. Smith, 47, 1405 Montagne Street, New Iberia, LA was arrested on October 24, 2013 at 6:57 pm for theft of goods. A deputy responded to a complaint of shoplifting at a store in Bayou Vista. The deputy learned from store personnel that Smith was seen taking items from the shelves and concealing them in her purse. Smith was released on a summons to appear in court on January 10, 2014.
Jeramie Hebert, 33, 10719 E. Admiral Doyle Drive, Jeanerette, LA was arrested on October 25, 2013 at 2:09 am for obstruction of a highway, reckless operation of a vehicle, and flight from an officer. A deputy patrolling the Charenton area saw a vehicle parked in the roadway on Highway 87. As the marked police unit approached, a male subject saw the deputy, got into the driver's seat of the vehicle, and pulled off accelerating at a high rate of speed in an attempt get away from the deputy. The deputy pursued the vehicle watching the driver run off the roadway several times nearly entering a ditch. When the driver stopped, the deputy ordered him out of the vehicle. The driver, identified as Hebert, complied. Hebert was transported to the parish jail for booking and incarceration. No bond is set.
Shawn E. McCauley, 36, 3124 Susan Drive, Morgan City, LA was arrested on October 24, 2013 at 3:25 pm for possession of marijuana and possession of drug paraphernalia. Detectives with the St. Mary Parish Sheriff's Office Narcotics Division conducted a traffic stop on a vehicle on Sixth Street in Berwick after the driver failed to use a turn signal. Detectives made contact with the driver who was identified as McCauley. During the traffic stop investigation, detectives received consent to a search McCauley's person and located a bag of marijuana and rolling papers. McCauley was released on a summons to appear in court on January 10, 2014.
Juan Gregory Guerra, 18, 1624 Victor II Boulevard, Morgan City, LA was arrested on October 24, 2014 at 5:16 pm on a warrant for obstruction of justice. Narcotics detectives located Guerra at a business on Highway 182 in Morgan City on the warrant. Guerra was transported to the parish jail for booking and incarceration. The warrant stems from a traffic stop investigation that took place earlier this month during which Guerra ate a marijuana cigarette. Guerra was transported to the parish jail for booking and incarceration. No bond is set.
