According to St. Mary Parish Sheriff Mark Hebert, during the last 24 hour reporting period the Sheriff's Office responded to 43 complaints and reports the following arrests:
Christopher J. Dyson, 30, 12617 Tupelo Circle, Erath, LA was arrested on October 16, 2013 at 12:08 pm on a warrant for simple burglary (felony) and on a warrant for theft (felony). Dyson was transported from the Iberia Parish jail to the St. Mary Parish Law Enforcement Center on the warrants. The warrants stem from an investigation into a theft of several hundred gallons of fuel and a vehicle burglary occurring on the property of a business in the Patterson area in mid September. During the course of the investigation, detectives developed Dyson as a suspect. Dyson was booked for incarceration. No bond is set. This crime remains under investigation at this time.
Cole Z. Fruge, 22, 1302 Saturn Road, Morgan City, LA was arrested on October 16, 2013 at 7:31 pm for theft of goods. A deputy responded to a complaint of shoplifting at a store in Bayou Vista. Upon arrival, the deputy learned from store personnel that Fruge was seen taking a video game and video cable from the packaging and concealing the items on his person. Fruge then attempted to leave the store. He was released on a summons to appear in court on January 10, 2013.
Dena Phillips, 52, 121 Bayouview Drive, Charenton, LA was arrested on October 16, 2013 at 10:07 pm for driving while intoxicated, failure to dim lights, no insurance, and expired license plate. A deputy conducted a traffic stop on Hebert Road after a driver failed to dim the vehicle's lights for oncoming traffic. The deputy made contact with the driver who was identified as Phillips. While speaking with Phillips, the deputy detected the strong odor of an alcoholic beverage emanating from the vehicle. The deputy conducted a field sobriety test. Phillips performed poorly. She later registered a 0.104g% blood alcohol concentration on the Intoxilyzor 5000 breath test. Phillips was transported to the parish jail for booking and incarceration. No bond is set. Kenneth Ray Allen, Jr., 46, 109 Saturn Rd. Bayou Vista, LA was arrested on October 16, 2013 at 7:03 pm for cultivation of marijuana and possession of drug paraphernalia.
Detectives of the St. Mary Parish Sheriff's Office Narcotics Division conducted an investigation at 109 Saturn Rd. and located marijuana plants being grown in a closet. Detectives also located items of drug paraphernalia. Allen was transported to parish jail for booking and incarceration. No bond is set.
