According to St. Mary Parish Sheriff Mark Hebert, during the last 24 hour reporting period the Sheriff's Office responded to 42 complaints and reports the following arrests:
Sasha Johnson, 17, 1110 Lee Charles Street, Franklin, LA was arrested on October 15, 2013 at 10:30 am on a warrant for simple criminal damage to property.
Samuel Johnson, 18, 1110 Lee Charles Street, Franklin, LA was arrested on October 15, 2013 at 10:30 am on a warrant for simple criminal damage to property.
Sasha and Samuel Johnson turned themselves in at the St. Mary Parish Sheriff's office in Franklin after learning of the warrants for their arrest. The warrants were secured following an investigation into the spray painting of a mailbox, a street sign, and a neighborhood watch sign in the St. Joseph neighborhood. Both were released on summonses to appear in court on January 10, 2014.
Juvenile male, 13, Jeanerette, LA was arrested on October 15, 2013 at 4:32 pm on a warrant for aggravated assault.

A deputy responded to a complaint of an ungovernable juvenile at a residence in Jeanerette. The deputy made contact with the two juveniles and during the course of the investigation discovered that both held active warrants for their arrest. The warrants stem from an investigation into a complaint of a fight between the two juveniles. The 15 year old juvenile was transported to a juvenile facility pending juvenile court proceedings. The 13 year old was released to a guardian pending juvenile court proceedings.
Ricardo Blanchard, 58, 149 Geraldine Road, Gibson, LA was arrested on October 16, 2013 at 9:34 pm for driving while intoxicated, 2nd offense. While patrolling Amelia, a deputy was flagged down by a concerned citizen who stated that a vehicle struck the Amelia bridge. Using the description provided by the witness, the deputy located the vehicle and conducted a traffic stop on Lake Palourde Road. The driver was identified as Blanchard. While speaking with Blanchard, the deputy smelled the strong odor of an alcoholic beverage on his breath and person. Blanchard performed poorly on a field sobriety test and later registered a 0.145g% on a breath test. Blanchard was transported to the parish jail for booking and incarceration. No bond is set. The investigation into the hit and run crash was turned over to Louisiana State Police Troop C.
Shaljup Williams, 23, 312 Ellis Street Patterson, LA was arrested on October 15, 2013 at 11:08 pm for possession of Schedule II (crack cocaine), possession of drug paraphernalia, and improper lane usage. A deputy patrolling Four Corners watched a vehicle travel in the middle of the roadway on Cypremort Road and initiated a traffic stop. The vehicle slowed down and the deputy observed the front passenger get out and flee into a sugarcane field near Jacob Lane. The vehicle then continued to drive away from the deputy before coming to a stop on Cypremort Road. The driver was identified as Williams. The deputy received consent to search the vehicle and located a suspected rock of crack cocaine and a razor blade with white residue on it. Williams was transported to the parish jail for booking and incarceration. No bond is set. The identity of the passenger in the vehicle remains under investigation.
Prakasharao Nudugunda Venkata Surya, 47, 5305 Gulfway Drive, Apt. 87, Groves, TX was arrested on October 16, 2013 at 12:41 am for disturbing the peace intoxicated. A deputy on patrol in Amelia responded to a request to remove a subject from a residence on Martin Lane. The deputy located the subject on Lake Palourde Road and identified him as Surya. During the course of the investigation, the complainant stated that Surya refused to leave the property after being asked multiple times to do so. Surya was transported to the parish jail for booking and incarceration. Bond is set at $500.
