According to St. Mary Parish Sheriff Mark Hebert, during the last 24 hour reporting period the Sheriff's Office responded to 42 complaints and reports the following arrests:
Sean Hulin, 17, 6616 Hwy. 182 Franklin, LA was arrested on April 10, 2013 at 8:09 am for driving an off road vehicle on a public roadway. While patrolling the area of Centerville, a deputy responded to a complaint of a subject driving a dirt bike to school. Upon arrival at Centerville High School, the deputy located a parked dirt bike that had been driven by Hulin to the school. Hulin was released on a summons to appear in court on July 5, 2013.
Cachet R. Banks, 35, 1812 Hwy. 182 Morgan City, LA was arrested on April 10, 2013 at 9:25 am on a warrant for issuing worthless checks. On this charge she was released on a summons to appear in court on July 5, 2013. Banks was also wanted on a warrant for failure to appear on the charge of speeding. She was transported to the parish jail for booking and incarceration. She was released on a $329.50 bond. A deputy located Banks at her residence on the warrants.
Clement J. Mire, 30, 3466 Lake Palourde Road Amelia, LA was arrested on April 10, 2013 at 9:41 am on warrants for failure to comply with the terms and conditions of drug court. Mire turned himself in to a deputy in Morgan City after learning of the warrants for his arrest. He was transported to the parish jail for booking and incarceration. His bond is set at $200,000.
Corey Delatte, 21, 105 Portier Court Morgan City, LA was arersted on April 10, 2013 at 5:16 pm for theft of goods. A deputy responded to a complaint of shoplifting at Walmart in Bayou Vista, LA. Upon arrival, the deputy made contact with store security who observed Delatte taking an item out of the packaging and placing it in his pocket. Delatte was released on a summons to appear in court on July 5, 2013.
James Joseph, Sr., 61, 400 Paradise Lane Patterson, LA was arrested on April 11, 2013 at 1:24 am for theft over $500. A deputy responded to a Beriwck residence in reference to a complaint of a stolen cell phone. During the course of the investigation, the deputy learned that the victim lost a cell phone at the Dollar Store in Bayou Vista. Despite efforts by the victim and assistance from store personnel, the phone was not found in the store. Later in the evening, the victim's son received a call from the missing phone. The caller stated that he found the phone and demanded a cash reward to return it. The caller told the victim to leave the money at the Post Office in Patterson. Patterson Police were contacted and officers located a subject with a phone matching the victim's description. The subject was identified as Joseph. The phone was returned to the victim. Joseph was transported to the parish jail for booking and incarceration. No bond is set.
Averist Joseph Armelin, 52, 506 Boullard Street Baldein, LA was arrested on April 11, 2013 at 2:53 am for possession of drug paraphernalia, resisting an officer by providing false information, and on a warrant for probation violation. A deputy patrolling Big Four Corners Road in Four Corners observed a vehicle parked in the roadway and made contact with the sleeping driver. The subject gave the deputy a false name. Upon further investigation, the subject was identified as Armelin who was wanted on a warrant. Also, the deputy located items of drug paraphernalia in the vehicle. Armelin was transported to the parish jail for booking and incarceration. No bond is set.
Shannon Benoit, 39, 154 Migues Lane Sorrel, LA was arrested on April 10, 2013 at 12:22pm for possession of a controlled dangerous substance in the presence of a juvenile, possession of marijuana, possession of drug paraphernalia, and possession of Schedule III Drugs (Lortab). The St. Mary parish Sheriff's Office responded to a welfare concern complaint in regard to adults and children living in a shed at 154 Miguez Lane. The complainant stated that the adults were using drugs in the presence of the children. Deputies responded to the address to investigate. Narcotics Division Detectives arrived shortly after to assist. Two children were located at the shed along with their mother, Shannon Benoit. Benoit gave detectives consent to search the shed. During the search, detectives located marijuana, a smoking pipe, and Schedule III Lortab pills at the residence. Benoit was transported to the parish jail for booking and incarceration. She was released on an $8,500 bond.
