According to St. Mary Parish Sheriff Mark Hebert, during the last 24 hour reporting period the Sheriff's Office responded to 29 complaints and reports the following arrests:
Louie Barnett, Jr., 50, 10909 Highway 87 Jeanerette, LA was arrested on February 25, 2013 at 9:06 am on a warrant for theft by fraud (over $1500). Barnett turned himself in to the St. Mary Parish Sheriff's Office in Franklin after learning of the warrant for his arrest. On February 15, 2013 a detective began an investigation into a complaint of internet fraud. The victim stated that she answered an ad via Craigslist to provide freelance work for a subject claiming to be a movie producer. The subject provided the victim with a check in advance for her services. The subject requested that the check be cashed and that a portion of the funds be wired to him. The victim wired $3,800. About a week later the victim was notified by her bank that the check had not cleared. During the course of the investigation the detective identified Barnett as one of two subjects who received the wired funds. Barnett was transported to the parish jail for booking and incarceration. His bond is set at $4,000. This is the second arrest the Criminal Investigation Division had made in this case.
Paul Anthony Jones, 51, 964 Chitimacha Trail, Charenton, LA was arrested on February 25, 2013 at 12:31 pm at the St. Mary Parish Law Enforcement Center in Centerville on warrants for failure to appear on the charges of monetary instrument abuse and possession of marijuana with intent to distribute, and probation violation, and on a warrant from Lafourche Parish for failure to appear on the charges of driving under suspension. Jones turned himself in after learning of the warrants for his arrest. He was transported to the parish jail for booking and incarceration. No bond is set.
Casey Lopez, 31, 1702 Kemper Street, Patterson, LA was arrested on February 25, 2013 at 6:10 pm on a Texas warrant for probation violation. Detectives of the St. Mary Parish Sheriff's Office Narcotics Division conducted an investigation at the address listed above. During the course of the investigation detectives learned of the warrant for Lopez's arrest. She was transported to the parish jail for booking and incarceration. No bond is set.
