St. Mary Parish Arrest Report

According to Sheriff Mark Hebert during the last 72 hour reporting period the Sheriff's Office responded to 111 complaints and reports the following arrests:

Jean Derise, 67, 714 Southeast Blvd., Bayou Vista, LA was arrested on October 12, 2012 at 1:57 pm at her residence for disturbing the peace.

Pierre Derise, III, 47, 714 Southeast Blvd., Bayou Vista, LA was arrested on October 12, 2012 at 1:57 pm at his residence for harassment.

Michael Courtney, 44, 620 General Hodges Street, Morgan City, LA was arrested on October 12, 2012 at 1:57 pm at a residence on Southeast Blvd. in Bayou Vista, LA.

A deputy responded to a complaint of several subjects arguing over a civil matter. During the course of the investigation the deputy learned Courtney made an obscene gesture and cursed at Pierre Derise, III. Derise returned the gesture. The argument escalated when Jean Derise entered a residence on Southeast Blvd. and began yelling and using profanity. All three suspects were released on a summons to appear in court on January 16, 2013.

Andrew Stewart, 21, 262 Eves Street, Jeanerette, LA was arrested on October 12, 2012 at 1:20 pm on Labu Street near Provost Street in Baldwin, LA on a warrant for aggravated assault and illegal use of a weapon. The warrant stems from an investigation into a fight that occurred on Eve Street in Jeanerette on June 25, 2012 during which Stewart fired a gun into the air. A deputy located Stewart on the warrant. He was transported to the parish jail for booking and incarceration. No bond has been set. Stewart is the 6th suspect to be arrested in the investigation.

Billy Glen Haughton, 33, 2008 Keith Street Lot 16, Morgan City, LA was arrested on October 12, 2012 at 3:10 pm at the SMPSO in Morgan City for simple criminal damage to property. A deputy responded to a complaint of an ATM being damaged by a subject at a night club in Amelia, LA. During the course of the investigation it was learned that Haughton became angry when the ATM failed to dispense money and punched the machine. Haughton was transported to the parish jail for booking and incarceration. No bond has been set.

Purvis Jackson, 36, 449 Higgins Road, Sorrell, LA was arrested on October 12, 2012 at 9:30 pm for possession of drug paraphernalia. A deputy patrolling the Sorrell area responded to a complaint of a subject going door to door asking for money. Upon arrival the subject was identified as Jackson. After receiving consent to search Jackson, the deputy located a glass tube commonly used to smoke illegal drugs on his person. Jackson was transported to the parish jail for booking and incarceration. His bond is set at $1500.

Juvenile male, 12 was arrested on October 13, 2012 at 3:46 pm for trespassing. A deputy responded to a complaint of a juvenile riding and ATV down the street in the Patterson area. Upon arrival the deputy observed the juvenile riding a four-wheeler trespassing. The juvenile was released to a guardian pending juvenile court proceedings.

Tamara Newcomb, 19, 2315 River Road, Berwick, LA was arrested on October 13, 2012 at 10:59 pm for theft. A deputy responded to a complaint of a shoplifter at Walmart in Bayou Vista, LA. Upon arrival the deputy learned from store security that Newcomb was observed placing several items in her purse. Newcomb then left the store without paying for the items. She was transported to the parish jail for booking and incarceration. She was released on a $1000 bond.

Mario Alberto Salazar Medina, 50, 1313 Barrow Street, Amelia, LA was arrested on October 14, 2012 at 1:42 am for 2 counts of simple battery. A deputy responded to a complaint of a fight at Sandi's, a bar in Amelia. Upon arrival the deputy learned from multiple witnesses that Medina struck one victim in the face and attempted to bite another. Neither injuries required medical attention at the scene. Medina was transported to the parish jail for booking and incarceration. He was released on a $1000 bond.

Caitlyn Manfre, 18, 1702 Raven Oak Court, Katy, TX was arrested on October 14, 2012 at 9:29 am on Hwy. 90 East in Bayou Vista, LA for reckless operation of a vehicle. A deputy patrolling the Patterson area observed a vehicle repeatedly changing lanes at a high rate of speed. The deputy clocked the vehicle travelling at 87 miles per hour in the 55 mile per hour zone. A traffic stop was conducted. Manfre was released on a summons to appear in court on January 16, 2013.

Michele Laplante, 48, 155 Uranus Street, Bayou Vista, LA was arrested on October 14, 2012 at 12:57 pm at her residence for simple battery. A deputy patrolling the Bayou Vista area responded to a complaint of a battery. During the course of the investigation the deputy learned that Laplante pushed the female victim. Laplante was transported to the parish jail for booking and incarceration. She was released on a $500 bond.
