According to St. Mary Parish Sheriff Mark Hebert, during the last 24 hour reporting period the Sheriff's Office responded to 42 complaints and reports the following arrests:
Dex Michael Clements, 27, 2045 River Road, Berwick, LA was arrested on September 24, 2013 at 2:19 pm on a warrant for domestic ab
use battery (strangulation), aggravated battery, and violation of a protective order. A deputy located Clements at his residence on the warrant. The warrant stems from an investigation into a report of domestic abuse. The victim held an active protective order against Clements. He was transported to the parish jail for booking and incarceration. No bond is set.
Vanessa L. Diggs, 49, 218 Prairie Road North, Franklin, LA was arrested on September 24, 2013 at 4:16 pm on a warrant for failure to notify law enforcement of a change of address as a sex offender. Diggs was convicted of contributing to the delinquency of a minor in St. Mary Parish in 1994. Upon conducting a routine sex offender check, detectives discovered that Diggs no longer lived at her registered address. Detectives later received information that Diggs was being housed at the Morgan City Police Department and was charged on the warrant. She remains incarcerated at the Morgan City jail. No bond is set.
Sandra Savell Barr, 56, 653 Prairie Road, Franklin, LA was arrested on September 24, 2013 at 8:14 pm for theft of goods. A deputy responded to a report of shoplifting at a store in Bayou Vista. Upon arrival, the deputy learned from store personnel that Barr was seen leaving the store without paying for items she placed in her purse. Barr was released on a summons to appear in court on December 11, 2013.
Sandra Lasseigne Cormier, 45, 1473 Beachmont Drive, Lake Charles, LA was arrested on September 24, 2013 at 7:50 pm for driving while intoxicated 2nd offense, driving left of center, possession of Schedule I (marijuana) and possession of an open alcoholic container in a motor vehicle. A deputy responded to a report of a reckless driver on Highway 90 in the Patterson area. The deputy conducted a traffic stop on a vehicle after watching the driver cross onto the shoulder of the roadway several times. The deputy made contact with the driver who was identified as Cormier. During the course of the investigation, Cormier performed poorly on the field sobriety test. She later refused to take a breath test. Cormier was transported to the parish jail for booking and incarceration. No bond is set.
