St. Mary Arrest Reports for August 28, 2014

According to St. Mary Parish Sheriff Mark Hebert, over the last 24 hour reporting period, the Sheriff's Office responded to 53 complaints and reports the following arrests:

Jazmine Jackson, 24, 306 Martin Luther King Boulevard, Franklin, LA was arrested on August 26, 2014 at 7:54 am for battery of a correctional facility employee and disarming a peace officer. A deputy at the St. Mary Parish Law Enforcement Center was in the process of removing Jackson from a dorm when the offender began moving toward the deputy in an aggressive manner. The deputy deployed a Tazer but did make contact with the offender. Jackson continued to approach the deputy, hitting the deputy's hands and striking the deputy in the face and head. Additional deputies responded to the dorm and Jackson was subsequently escorted from the area. The deputy sustained no major injuries during the altercation.

Jason E. Hunt, 27, 112 Field Street, Bayou Vista, LA was arrested on August 27, 2014 at 9:10 am on a warrant for domestic abuse battery. Hunt was located at the St. Mary Parish Sheriff's Office in Franklin on the warrant. The warrant stems from an investigation that began on August 23, 2014 after receiving a report of a battery that occurred at a residence on Field Street during the previous night. The deputy determined that during an argument with a female subject, Hunt slapped her repeatedly and pushed her to the ground. Hunt was transported to the parish jail for booking. Hunt was released on a $5,000 bond.

Michael Dupas, 54, 1205 Theresa Street, Franklin, LA was arrested on August 27, 2014 at 12:45 pm on a warrant for issuing worthless checks. Dupas was located at the St. Mary Parish Sheriff's Office in Franklin on the warrant. Dupas was released on a summons to appear in court on November 14, 2014.

Kierra Johnson, 26, 271 Grandwood Drive Apt. 41, Patterson, LA was arrested on August 27, 2014 at 3:23 pm on a warrant for failure to appear on the charge of theft. Johnson was located at the St. Mary Parish Courthouse in Franklin on the warrant. Johnson was transported to the parish jail for booking. No bail is set.

Elizabeth Lewis, 22, 203 Neptune Road, Bayou Vista, LA was arrested on August 27, 2014 at 1:24 am for the following offenses:
- Simple battery
- Obstruction of justice
- Two warrants for failure to comply with the terms and conditions of probation
- Warrant for failure to appear on the charge of criminal mischief
- Warrant for failure to appear on the charge of theft
A deputy responded to Teche Regional Medical Center in reference to a report of a possible battery. During the course of the investigation, the deputy learned that Lewis and another female subject were involved in an argument when Lewis struck the female victim in the face. The deputy located Lewis at a bar in Amelia where the altercation occurred. Lewis initially gave the deputy a false name. Following the investigation, Lewis was transported to the parish jail for booking. No bail is set.

According to St. Mary Parish Sheriff Mark Hebert the Narcotics Division made the following arrests:

Justin Scarbrough, 22, 1232 Delmar Avenue, Bayou Vista, LA was arrested on August 27, 2014 at 8:10 pm for the following offenses:
- Resisting an officer
- Operation of a clandestine laboratory
- Operating a clandestine laboratory within 2,000 feet of a school zone
- Possession of drug paraphernalia
- Possession of a firearm in the presence of a controlled dangerous substance
- Criminal trespass
- Manufacturing methamphetamine
Detectives with the St. Mary Parish Sheriff's Office Narcotics Division conducting an investigation into illegal narcotics activity at 1232 Delmar Avenue observed Scarbrough attempting to throw a bag into a neighbor's yard. Scarbrough then fled on foot. Detectives pursued Scarbrough through several yards and detained him after a brief foot chase. Detectives executed a search warrant at Scarbrough's residence and located 34 plastic bottles used to produce methamphetamine and a loaded shotgun. Detectives retrieved the bag thrown by Scarbrough and discovered items used in the manufacturing of methamphetamine. Scarbrough's residence is within two thousand feet of Bayou Vista Elementary School Zone and Bayou Vista Recreation Center resulting in the additional charge. The 34 one-pot methamphetamine labs, commonly referred to as shake-n-bake labs, were removed by Xtreme Cleaners, a professional crime and death scene cleaning service. Scarbrough was transported to the parish jail for booking. No bail is set.

Wade Fruge, 55, 1302 Saturn Road, Bayou Vista, LA was arrested on August 27, 2014 at 5:40 pm on the following offenses:
- Disturbing the peace (offensive language)
- Battery of a police officer
- Resisting an officer with force, three counts
- Threatening a public official

Narcotics detectives working to serve a warrant travelled to a residence on Clarke Road in Bayou Vista. Upon arrival, Fruge walked into the street where detectives were located and began yelling and cursing at them. He then approached a narcotics detective and began to yell and curse at him directly. Several residents were outside of their homes at the time of the disturbance. Fruge continued to curse loudly refusing to comply with the detective's request to lower his voice and refrain from using offensive language. Fruge then moved forward pushing against the detective twice. At that point, Fruge was placed under arrest. During his arrest, Fruge repeatedly attempted to pull away from narcotics detectives and made threats towards one of the detectives. Fruge was transported to the parish jail for booking. He was later released on a $3,500 bond.
